AVOID THIS PLACE! BELIEVE THE ONE STAR REVIEWS! This is not the same Floss and Smile, the new dentists/office management are unprofessional and predatory. They don’t care about the health of your teeth; they just will find problems to fix. During my 6-month cleaning on 10/30/25 I was told two of my teeth (previous work done by Dr. Townes) now needed two crowns. They really pushed to get me back in asap because it was ‘urgent’, but the earliest I could make was 11/5/25. Day of, my appointment was for 11am but I didn’t leave till after 3pm. It was such an awful experience. I kept having to answer the same questions about previous dental work to different dentists and assistants, even though I’ve been a patient for 6+ years. Once the old fillings were removed, an x-ray was taken. They found
Great dentist office. I needed to get in immediately for some pain I was having a few weeks ago. Janiyah and Tycha at the front desk were so professional and sweet, and got me in that day. I came back after a few weeks of healing for a check up and cleaning. Smooth process and Dr. Oh and Dr. Lim are super efficient and lovely to work with. Thank you so much!
The recent reviews on here are EXTREMELY accurate. Dr. Townes is/was awesome, I have been going to her for 15 years, but I will not be returning. It appears that she sold the business (Floss and Smile is now Dentists of Old Town) and the new staff is horrible, all of them. I had an 11 AM appointmfora cleaning and was not out the door until 3 PM. During this time I waited in the office for an hour plus and then waited in the chair for another hour plus waiting to be seen. One dentist was bouncing back and forth between me and another lady, essentially trying to deal with both of us at the same time. Very unprofessional. The final nail in the coffin was the insane amount of upselling these people tried to get away with. And by other recent reviews, it appears I am not the one! One of the ma
As a long time (and very satisfied) patient of Floss and Smile, my first appointment with the new practice, Dentists of Old Town Alexandria, was very disappointing and unsettling. My concerns and complaints are very similar to those expressed in recent reviews! The hard sales pitch for a deep cleaning/scaling was so troubling and inappropriate. I left my appointment saddened that Floss and Smile is no longer in business and its exceptional dental services and its attention to patient care are not a priority for the new practice.
Have to agree with some of the other reviews here about the pushy tactics. I came in a while back for a cleaning and was told I urgently needed a crown, which ended up costing ~$900 out of pocket even after my insurance paid a good chunk of it. At the end of it all (~3 hours) they tried to get me to pre-pay for a second appointment to get another crown on a different tooth for a 10% discount. That seemed unprofessional to me, especially while I was still in the chair with my gums numbed. I spoke to a different dentist in the area and they said there's nothing wrong with that second tooth! I do think the dentist and her assistant did a good job with making and installing the crown (though my retainer no longer fit, which I'm told could've been avoided if they paid attention to it).
