Dental Center

I personally think the doctor is very caring, as he made sure I felt comfortable during my visit. I came in with too many dental issues that one person could handle, but Dr. Mateo made the task look easy, since he was able to fix all my problems and make it a painless experience. Overall, the quick and efficient service is one to come back for. I highly recommend anyone who needs dentist in the area, especially those with children, to come here.

Went in for a regular clean up & the doctor was kind of aggressive and cleaned my teeth a little too quickly. He was kind enough to fill in a baby cavity for no extra charge; however, he did it so quickly that he cut my tongue. I’m not a huge fan of the dentist in general, so I probably won’t be going back knowing that I need a doctor who is much calmer.

It's strange, my boyfriend went a week before me and had an excellent experience. I went in for a cleaning and the doctor filled some small cavities, but rushed through the cleaning and did zero scaling or flossing. I was left confused and uncomfortable about the work that was done. While I needed the fillings on the sides for gum recession (although subsequent exams have confirmed this was a poor choice that led to more inflammation than anything else), I was left with more sensitivity than I had when I first came in. Not to mention the botched attempts at obtaining mouth X-rays. I was exposed to radiation twice as much as necessary due to many “retakes.” Overall the worst experience I've ever had at a dentist.

This is the best dentist I have ever gone to, and I'm thirty years old so I've been to many. The dental hygienist and secretary were incredibly professional, respectful, and efficient. The dentist himself was so patient, even though I hate going to the dentist normally and always cry and have a panic attack. He asked me about my prior experiences and said that if I felt uncomfortable he would stop immediately and not to worry. He was able to explain in detail everything he did, before and during the various procedures. I will definitely be going back here, whenever I need a cleaning or another dental procedure. Thank you Sunset Park Dental Center for being awesome.

Dr Pedro Mateo is excellent. Gentle hand and very conscious about his patients. Found him as an in network provider and not far from home. Thus, I decided to try. Being terrified of dentists, I confess, he makes you feel at ease. He does not suggest unnecessary treatments. He took his time, explained what he was doing, recommended a few changes in my brushing routine --nothing major and not costly. Am coming back in 6 months. It is not easy to find someone so good.
