Delaware Ophthalmology

Awful....decided at "year end" when we all have hit our deductible, that they no longer accept Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield....and didnt notify any patient. My wife called last week and they said "good thing you called, as we no longer accept Anthem BC&BS Insurance".... what!??? no notice....after 23 years going here and this political insurance BS....thanks for the past...but thanks for nothing now! Lousy, greedy....AVOID!!!!! Gluttony $$$

I have no problem with the Doctors HOWEVER, it would be nice if I would be allowed to see a doctor there. The support staff never answered the phone and I had an Appointment scheduled for almost a year in advance and got a text message that they had canceled my appointment. So I called to find out why and to make a new one and there were 10 people ahead of me on the phone waiting and there was a 56 minute wait ?!!!!!!!!! First of all, if they have to cancel my appointment why are they not calling me to let me know so I can then make a new one!!!!! Looks like they do not want patients any more because the staff is making sure there are no clients. Guess I have to find another place.

I've been trying fir 2 was to speak to someone to move up my eye exam to get new glasses and every call puts me on a wait list of 29 with a wait time of 59 min. Then 24 wait time 55 min etc.Finally went elsewhere n had eye exam and replaced my glasses n bought extra pr. When I finally waited to cancel my appointment today and told them what I went thru their response was just ok. I told them if I gave to go thru this everything I call please cancel the appointments I have lined up I'm going to find other Dr's. And she said no problem.

This was my first visit to Delaware Ophthalmology and I was very impressed with the entire staff. They were so friendly and made me feel comfortable. All I can say is that DR. Abel is awesome. I am a nurse and I can't say that about many doctors now a days. We talked about one of my other health problems and I was so surprised when he said he would call my physician and talk to him and call be back. Sure enough that evening I get a call from Dr. Abel. Not many doctors would do that because it did not pertain to his profession. Dr. Abel is funny and has a great personality and he is not is a rush to get out of the room. It is hard to find a doctor like Dr. Abel.

Very poor communication when leaving messages. They state will call you back, but never do. They have a patient portal, but never respond to any messages. Needed emergency contacts but would not give them to me because my prescription was not up date but this was due to Delaware Ophthalmology giving me an appointment 5 months out. That was the best they could do. Horrible scheduling here despite several offices in Delaware. Very lax office staff. customer service lacks here.
