Well-organized office with knowledgeable doctors and PAs Consultants in Urology has been my go-to office for routine checkups and occasional treatment for over eight years. On each visit I was impressed by the professionalism of the PAs and staff, the short wait times, and the availability of sonograms and other testing procedures on site. Since I haven’t had any major issue, I only saw Dr. Sherman during my very first visit and once again recently. All other times I was seen by PAs only. Though at some point it felt weird not seeing a doctor at all during a doctor’s office visit, I realized that the knowledge and skill level of the PAs was more than sufficient for my needs. I have been a patient of Dr. Plawker for many years. I have also been with Dr. Sherman in the office as well. This is one well-oiled machine. the two of them are very personable and informative. The entire staff is wonderful from getting sonograms/ultrasounds to being checked in by the assistants to the main office people. The young ladies at the front desk are so accommodating to work with. They make booking appointments and dealing with personal details a seamless and delightful experience. The technicians are also perfect in attending to my testing and other incidentals connected to my case. Finally, Dr. Joel Sherman is a consummate professional who addresses my healthcare needs in a thorough manner. Excellent care, clean and professional. Never over booked and never waited more than a few minutes to be seen. All staff from checking in, exams, assistants, to checking out were all great to deal with and made you feel comfortable. Nothing was ever rushed. Everything was thoroughly explained before, after and during any procedures. Multiple follow ups by phone and text messages. Highly recommended.

After seven years with Dr. Joel Sherman, I’m extremely disappointed. My BPH was handled with nothing but meds and routine tests, while my symptoms — waking up 4–5 times a night and constant daily inconvenience — never improved. Every time I asked about real solutions, especially a referral for a PAE procedure with an interventional radiologist at NYU (a procedure he doesn’t even perform), he refused. It felt like my quality of life and desire to get off long-term medication were ignored. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this practice to anyone seeking real treatment options instead of being kept in a medication loop.
