Connecticut Children's NICU at Hartford Hospital

We delivered at Hartford Hospital, (an hour away from home) due to our baby having Spina Bifida. We were in the NICU for 11 days. As a first time mom, NICU life was not easy, however the level of care we had was unbelievable. We are forever grateful for the nurses, PAs and Doctors who took the best care of our baby. Connecticut children’s NICU made one of the hardest times in our lives feel bearable. If you have a high risk pregnancy or a baby who requires intervention after delivery, CCMC is the place to go.

Overcrowded and dilapidated. The current NICU is filthy and overpopulated while CT Children’s hospital raises millions of dollars for another facility. Meanwhile, the focus on current facilities and environment are entirely overlooked.

Our experience at the Main NICU at Hartford hospital was very positive. Ofcourse you have your days but we were in great luck to have an amazing primary nurse and many other nurses we love that cared for our little boy. At birth you will be nervous for your little one but here you will see how they care for your baby and provide you with as much information to put your mind at ease. It’s all about communication with the care team, you are always free to voice your opinions and ask as many questions, they will always provide you with a positive outlook. This place was our second home for months, what would feel like a year! But our boy graduated the NICU! and is flourishing and it’s a big thank you to the care team here. 💗🩷💗

I was in the nicu for a while because they would only feed me and my sister a little bit per day and we weren’t gaining weight. We couldn’t get out. My mom was frustrated so she transferred us to another hospital and they let us out because we gained enough weight. Screw this.

After two early miscarriages last year and a traumatic birth a month ago with a hemorrhage and three blood transfusions it was tough then knowing the day we were supposed to be discharged from the hospital that our baby boy had to go to the nicu for discoloration in his leg to make sure it was not related to a avm because of his heart murmer which now seems to be closed up. Ultrasounds came back that he does not have a avm and it’s probably a birth mark or something hematology can help with. Our baby boy is now home doing better with us but the nicu was already upsetting enough and one nurse there was very rude and practically told us we can’t hold our baby and they like it when they are just left alone to sleep.
