ChristianaCare Union Hospital

So recently I took my Mom to ChristianaCare, Union Hospital. I am posting because I read so many negative reviews in here as well as their 2.7 rating on google. I cannot speak for those who gave bad rating, only for our experience and with my Mom being a cancer patient, I called the ED before taking her to explain her situation and they took her name. When we arrived, we were checked in within 5 minutes and then triaged within 5 minutes. Within 10 minutes of that we were taken back to a bed where within 10-15 minutes, she was seen by the floor nurse, doctor and registration. Within about 2-3 hours she was admitted for the night. Everything was 5 stars up until the point the next day when no one knew for sure of she was being discharged around 4pm but at 4:30p she was told by a nurse that s

My daughter woke up with pains on her right side. We went to Union hospital just before 6am on a Tuesday and received outstanding care. My daughter was diagnosed swiftly and efficiently. The nursing staff were phenomenal! We went through shift change during our 3 hour visit so we met quite a few nurses, doctors and aides. Every single person we encountered was an absolute saint. They worked efficiently, effectively and pleasantly. My daughter and I felt at ease in a scary situation. She had to get an IV, go for a CT, get blood drawn and be examined. Each staff member from the guard at the door to registration, triage, aides, nurses, doctors, custodial staff, were all so good to her and myself. Worst experience within a medical facility I have ever experienced in my life. I wish there was a negative star because I would give it. The emergency room and it's staff was amazing. The problems are upstairs, the moment you get off on floor 2 you have entered the twilight zone. The nursing staff is not only burnt out and I guess overworked they have lost all empathy and compassion. I was on surgical/wound care.... guess how many times I had my wound cleaned ZERO..I never was given a clean gown. I never had anyone attempt to change my bed linens or clean sheets be found. My daughter brought pillows/ cases and blankets from home on the 3rd day. I was never given a basin to wash up in. I had the best experience with the staff in the Maternity ward at Union Hospital! After Dr Li successfully delivered my baby I was treated with so much kindness, support, and care by the nursing team. They were incredibly attentive to all my recovery needs and provided much needed support and education helping us through the first few days as first time parents. Kim Cruser is an amazing Lactation Consultant and even came to help us on her day off. I’m late in sharing this but we had a great visit to the ER in August. The staff could not have been nicer or more professional. They kept us informed and really seemed to care. Loved our nurses and our doctor…think he said his name rhymed with Rogain? Anyway we were super skeptical initially but all went well. It could be cleaner though:(
