Carolina Kids Pediatrics

This was my child’s first pediatrician post birth, we were paired with one of the nurse practitioners and never saw an MD the several appts that we had. We were very concerned with the level of knowledge and care our child was receiving from the nurse practitioner - with her being younger than my husband and I and less than 10 years experience. Our final appt her handling our new born baby was concerning, almost as if she hadn’t experienced dealing with a new born. Later we also found out some medical guidance she had given us regarding a possible surgery was completely inaccurate and he would need to have the surgery. I am not writing this review to complain but rather express the concern in these things as a first time parent only wanting the best, top tier care for my child.

We have used several different pediatricians for our family over the years due to moving a few times, and none have compared to the excellence of care at Carolina Kids. This office does so many things “right”. They offer walk-in sick hours during the week, which is amazing. You are always guaranteed to be able to get your kids seen, even on very busy days. They also have weekend sick hours, which has saved us countless visits to the urgent care over the years. And their receptionists/office staff are wonderful! Whenever you call, you immediately get to speak to a person (or are placed on a very short hold), and everyone is easy to communicate with. Carolina Kids Pediatrics has been amazing to work with. As an ABA provider (Kennedy ABA), we partner with a lot of pediatric offices, and this practice consistently stands out for how caring, responsive, and thorough they are with every family. Parents always tell us how supported they feel, and we see how dedicated the team is to making sure each child gets the right evaluations and referrals quickly. Their communication with us has always been smooth and professional, which makes a huge difference for the families we serve together. Carolina Kids has been our pediatrician since my first was born almost 15 years ago. I love the combination of doctors- some of whom have been in practice for many years plus the newer physicians who are more recently out of school, which allows for a comprehensive knowledge base ensuring whatever we need we'll be in good hands. The staff is always friendly and kind. They've been patient and understanding when explaining new things. I also have been able to get same day appointments when needed which is invaluable with children. Their sick walk in appointments are also very helpful!

Dr Hernandez and the entire team at Carolina Kids always has my child’s best interest at heart. I recently moved to Clayton and will travel the 45 minutes to be seen by this team.
