Cabell Huntington Hospital

The emergency room wait is an utter nightmare. I waited nearly 7 hours to be seen and a total of 9 hours before I transferred to pediatric. The pediatric team looking after my baby is simply wonderful.

Worst Hospital Ever!!! Last year. My father passed away in their hospital and the nurses claim they tried multiple times to contact the next of kin but because of a disconnected number on my dads chart, they sent him to the morgue without contacting us. If they type in my mother’s name and city and state on google, the first thing that pops up is her correct number. I and my family called the hospital multiple times looking for my dad and they told us he wasn’t a patient there. They were extremely rude and hung up the phone in our faces multiple times. I had to file for a missing person and do an overnight search in Huntington for 5 to 6 hours and eventually had to turn to Facebook and ask the people if they had seen my dad. Luckily I had witness online telling me he got in a car accident

The doctor (Dr Ison) made a diagnosis from the bedside before ever running labs and urine. I have a knot on my head that I asked twice for him to look at and he refused said it was just a scratch. My PCP diagnosed me with a concussion from said knot two days later! When explaining what happened the doctor changed my words into his own to make a bedside diagnosis. The doctor said the ER was to get you in and get you out and whenever I asked for an IV and blood to be done at once he told me all I was trying to do was delay care. The nurse came in and insinuated that I was keeping my arm bent and that’s why the fluids weren’t running (I received 200cc of fluids in 4 hours!) I explained that I wasn’t and my husband explained that he didn’t feel the bag was hung high enough (former EMT) the nur

I think the staff did an exceptional job at getting me into my appointment promptly. They were courteous and helpful. One must expect times of delay or change so be patient when you go. I’m not inconsiderate of those that have urgent needs and I expect them to always be looked at first. I have been going here for sometime now and I am very pleased and comfortable with the staff and doctors.

A positive experience the doctor went above and beyond and the staff was extremely nice. The place was very clean, the only thing I have to say negative would be it was a longer wait time than what I thought was necessary. I do understand triage as a nurse myself, but there was literally four people waiting about the same amount of time as I was there and not much going on in the emergency department itself that I could see. I would definitely recommend going there if you need assistance
