Update#4-Brickyard is a cruel and uncaring environment. They treated my dying father horribly. Also, they treated us, the family, even worse. They denied us the ability to stay overnight with my dying father. They literally were HOLDING HIM HOSTAGE, as they also refused to move him to our home because he was too fragile at that point! DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONES IN THIS HELLHOLE DISQUISED AS A NURSING HOME!!!! Update #3- Its important to notify the public of places like this! An RN, at Brickyard in Valpo, put my actively dying father who was on hospice and bed ridden, into a wheel chair, forced him to eat and covered him in food as a punishment as noted by other residents who witnessed it. Don't send your family member or loved one there. I had to pull my mom out after two weeks not receiving physical therapy and she is now in the hospital septic. You will experience intimidation by the Director of Nursing should you pull your parent out for their safety.

This place is an absolute severly outdated facility. This place should be absolutely be shut down. My mother got the the worst care ever. Being constantly ignored. Food so nasty you could not even eat it. There for rehabilitation for her broken back, and got no physical therapy. Every aid or nurse had no answers to my questions. Nobody knows what's going on there. Research this place yourself go on a tour, you will see your dog wouldn't be safe or happy there. When I requested a transfer for my mother they delayed it for over a week. All they want is the money. They don't care about no one.

We just took our mom out of this hole after a week. She has a broken back with no need for surgery but she did need physical therapy, which she did not get. Every time I asked nobody could tell me anything. She laid in bed for over 30 minutes yelling for and aid or a nurse because her bed adjuster and call button fell. I had to call the building to have them go help her. If you hate your family this is definitely the place to leave them.

The building is old, could use updating. The people that work there are wonderful! They really do cate about their clients! My mom has been there almost 2 yrs in the memory care unit. I receive calls whenever they notice changes in her behavior, gets a bruise, change meds. When she started declining every nurse and aide made a point of stopping & telling me about her change & they knew this just wasn’t normal for her. It came on fast & seemed drastically different . The head nurse talked to me that they were running bloodwork & checking for UTI again, even though it had all just been done for a dr appt the week before. Everything was good she was just declining. The staff doesn't have big turnover, so they really know the clients! They care about them & do their best to care for them. I
