By far the best dentist I have ever been to! Walked in and they greeted me by name for my first visit. It had been a few years since I just recently got dental insurance. They used some kind of numbing gel for the cleaning. It was amazing. I have always had sensitive teeth and so cleanings always hurt. Turns out, I can benefit from further treatment, but insurance companies rarely cover them. So, we discussed other options that are more cost-effective. I had one cavity that needed repair, so they scheduled a follow-up appointment for the next day. Again, when I walked in the receptionist smiled, greeted me, and immediately got the hygienist. I went in to Dr. Barr's office today for a crown. I was a bit frazzled like I get when I'm nervous and the receptionist was completely friendly, professional, and warm. So right away, my nervousness was easing off. What I appreciate about this dentist is that I got all the explanations about what was being done AND I got to watch Dr. Barr adjust the images of my tooth on the computer and then I got to actually see the machine as it carved my crown. How to make a nervous person not be nervous? Involve them in the process, treat them with respect and patience when they're nervous. My family and I have been patients of Dr. Darwin for 20+ years. When I received letter from Dr. Darwin that he was retiring and Dr. Barr had bought his practice I felt a little hesitant at first because before becoming a patient of Dr. Darwin my past experiences with my dentist and his hygenist had not been very pleasant! 3 1/2 years ago I moved from Randolph County to Rockingham County but I kept going to Dr.Darwin and driving 1 hr. for my dental needs because I REFUSED to try a new dentist because of the great care I received from Dr. Darwin and ALL his staff! Met Dr.Barr this past June at my regular 6 month check-up and was SO HAPPY to find that his care is as good as Dr. Darwin's! Left his office today after receiving a permanent crown to replace the temporary one he had to apply. And

The best around! After going to another dentist who constantly found things wrong that he wants to fix ($$), Dr Barr said my teeth were great and that nothing is needed. He made me feel at ease and I’m so glad I moved over to his practice. The whole staff is excellent
