Cate is the reason I’m no longer exclusively pumping. I just had my 3rd baby who was tongue and lip tied. We got the revision done pretty quickly due to her latch being very shallow and excruciating. After her revision, we had a new problem. She became very flow dependent and would fatigue past my letdown. After experiencing clogged ducts and mastitis from her not emptying my breasts, I was scared to lose my milk supply so I began pretty much exclusively pumping. We had been doing basic suck training exercises and craniosacral therapy but she still was not improving with the function of her tongue. Both of my boys had tongue and lip ties, and resulting problems with breastfeeding and solids, ear infections, speech delays, sleep problems, and airway dysfunction, causing a huge amount of stress and even contributing to postpartum depression.
