Beacon Kalamazoo Hospital

I had a major health emergency while in Kalamazoo for work. I went to Beacon ER and I’m so glad that I did. They turned a very scary situation into something manageable. The care I received was exceptional! I was admitted, and the private room was clean and staff was friendly and professional. My nurses were Monica and Celina. They were fantastic! I had emergency surgery by Dr Ryan. They literally saved my life and limb. I will be forever grateful. The entire staff went above and beyond my expectations. From checking in, to discharge, everything was perfectly executed . 10 out of 10 I recommend!

NEVER AGAIN WILL ME OR MY FAMILY STEP FOOT IN THIS HOSPITAL AGAIN!!! My wife is still here waiting for 7 hours now for a urine test result. She already gave two urine samples only to find out that they lost the second sample. It has been 7 hours and nobody had the brains to come and tell her that she needs a third sample! Do you know how many people had to drop the ball on this . From the person losing the sample to the nurse not saying anything and the doctors not communicating either. You can just feel the unprofessionalism in this place. It’s so bad that the board that tells you who your nurse is, still has some nurse name Maria from Tuesday and it now Friday!

I use to love borgess.Since Beacon took over the care is dangerous. I had a pacemaker put in last week. Was check by heart doctor and told needed to go to ER right away as I have a hematopin over my pacemaker. I have now been sitting in there lobby 5 hrs. 45 minutes. Giving no reason or updates. Just rude employees who could careless about people or there health. Little lady's shivering waiting in lobby. Will never step foot in this hospital again. And very dirty

I’d be surprised if anybody but a Karen had bad things to say about Kalamazoo Beacon (formerly Borgess), especially about the maternity ward. The care there is excellent, and that’s what actually matters. The nurses are amazing. They really know what they’re doing and don’t make you feel ignored or confused. They check in often, explain what’s going on, and actually listen when you have concerns. You can tell they’re experienced and used to handling stressful situations without freaking out or rushing people. The doctors are just as solid. They’re professional, calm, and focused on doing what’s best for both the mom and the baby. Nothing feels careless or rushed. Went into the ER for heart palpitations, watched Dr. Prano's eyes get huge when the monitor alarm would go off when my heart would stop! A month and a half later after wearing a monitor he says my heart is fine. Was my insurance contacted? Can't get a hold of anyone to explain my $18,000 bills.
