Baldwin Health - Emergency Room

From the time I got there, till I left, the only time I saw a nurse was when we flagged them down or my husband would go to get them. Not one time was I asked if I needed anything. I was in so much pain from my fall and it was my 82 yr old husband who was trying to help me. They tended to sit in their glassed area looking at a gentleman's pictures, and chit chatting. There was one that was making trips back and forth to a patient and several nurses were one on one on the other side, but anytime that a nurse walked into my spot was because we went to get them. Got more info from X-ray gentleman, but it was what he needed to do and once he was done and gone, I was on my own wondering what was going on. My experience was amazing. I went in with what I suspected was a stroke. So my anxiety level was probably pretty high. I was treated exceptionally well by everybody in that process. From the person doing the intake on me to getting wheeled to the door at the very end. I did have a stroke and they did diagnose it so I guess I'll have to deal with what's going to come from that but my experience was exceptionable.

I was having heart problems. I have had major heart attack and stent in past year and half. The staff was very nice. However, the facility was extremely dirty. Everything from triage room to patient room to restrooms. They looked like they had not been cleaned all week. Toilets and sinks stained and grimy. Floors in entire ER looked like they had not been mopped or waxed in a very long time. Take a walk back there and you will see. I was expecting a better experience since you have added a new addition.

I had smashed the end of my middle finger in my truck bed cover. Decided to go to ER to have it checked. In processing went smooth, x-ray was smooth and friendly. CRNP Pamela Trammel attended to my wound and she was great. I did get a couple shots in my finger, which I never like shots, but we had a great time chatting as she stitched me up. I have been to South Baldwin now twice and I have been very please with the attention I've received.

I received immediate and attentive care, and was stabilized, and will follow up with my primary doc. The care was good. However, South Baldwin Hospital severely needs to invest in it's ER facilities! The space itself cannot handle the volume. All beds were full, along with gurneys filling every available space in the hallway. Waiting room was consistently 60-70% full. Even heard staff say they didn't know what to do because they had no more space to put people. ER doc was nice but very overwhelmed. Heard him tell a nurse to do whatever she wants as it all comes back to him any way. ER area and radiology areas are very old amd run down looking. This hospital spent a ton of money on a beautiful south and main entrance, and you hardly see anyone sitting there. Main entrance was completely emp
