I am writing to share some concerns regarding standard hospital protocols, specifically concerning patient intake and treatment options. While hospitals typically inquire about allergies to medications and anesthesia, I believe it is equally important for them to screen for sensitivities to natural oils. This is particularly relevant when treating conditions like inflammation or arthritis, where natural alternatives might be used. Furthermore, I would like to advocate for a greater emphasis on holistic approaches. I believe that natural and holistic options should be discussed with patients before proceeding with pharmaceutical interventions or surgery. Ultimately, we must remember that we are in charge of our own bodies. I encourage everyone to ask about holistic alternatives before co
I am writing to formally express my extreme disappointment and grave concerns regarding the care I received during my visit to the Emergency Department at Backus Hospital. My experience was not only distressing but, in my professional opinion, potentially dangerous, leading to a significant delay in receiving critical medical attention. Upon my arrival, I presented with alarming symptoms, including a critically elevated blood pressure reading of 180/95, which is classified as severe Stage Two Hypertension, and a heart rate of 114 BPM. These vital signs alone clearly indicated a serious medical situation requiring immediate and thorough intervention. During my time in the ED, I also overheard a nurse express profound job dissatisfaction, stating they were only working at Backus for the pay
During my visit, I observed a pervasive atmosphere of low morale and significant disengagement among the staff. This observation was notably underscored by a specific interaction where a nurse candidly expressed that their primary motivation for being employed at the facility was purely financial, further describing their work environment as "miserable." This sentiment appeared to be broadly reflective of the general disposition I witnessed. My blood pressure reading of 179/81 mmHg is considered Stage 2 Hypertension (very high) and is close to a hypertensive crisis. Which was completely disregarded. As well as a heart rate of 107bpm The overall quality of the patient experience and the negative staff (including but not limited to Richard Goulding, MD) morale were so significant that, even
Wish I could give zero. When the police and ambulance arrive with a OD patient that needs to be chemically restrained, and they not only choose to release them without assessment, but don’t have a patient record on subsequent request, it screams malpractice. Operator on the their phone line was rude as all get out while trying to ask about patient’s admission status. Security laughed while the situation was ongoing. Shameful.
So how can the owner of Backus Hospital claim that for 125 years Backus has basically been an upstanding and committed part of this community when I know he or she is not 125 years old! So once again people are trying to stand on data that could surely have been inaccurate and even purposely so. We are all human, all fallible, and so to assume that just because one wears a certain uniform, has a certain title and or job, that they are above this law of physics regarding mankind and mistakes! No one is God, and yet regular folk just like us hold our lives in their hands. Demanding more accountability and equality is not only our right, it is indeed one of our purposes here on this earth! Be accountable or get out of medicine!!!
