Avante at Melbourne

This place is absolutely atrocious! Unless you want your family member to deteriorate do not use this place. My grandfather was at Avante 9 months. He lost over 50 pounds, has the most horrible bed sores that are severely infected. He also had pneumonia that sent him to the ER! The staff has been found sleeping, the food is cold and nauseating . He didn’t receive anywhere near the nutrition he needed. It’s so incredibly disgusting the way my grandfather was mistreated and the abuse and neglect he has endured. After one day in the hospital he was doing better. We switched him to a new facility and he is recovering well from the experience of Avante. I’m thankful he is still alive.

WARNING – Unsafe Care & Negligence We had an extremely unsafe experience at Avante Rehab Center in Melbourne, FL. My elderly mother was left alone after being taken to the bathroom, even though she was in pain and unsteady. Another patient waited over 40 minutes for help and was eventually dropped by staff while trying to assist her. Staff were rude, dismissive, and did not explain what happened—even after paramedics were called. When we asked for discharge, the facility initially delayed it until we involved legal representation. I cannot recommend this facility due to negligence and poor care.

Our experience with this nursing home has been a mix, but overall we do see genuine effort being made to improve. Like many facilities, there are areas where improvement is still needed, and those things are noticeable. That said, it’s also clear that changes are actively being worked on rather than ignored. One bright spot has been Kayla in admissions. She has been incredibly helpful, responsive, and compassionate throughout the process. She took the time to explain everything, answered our questions honestly, and made a very overwhelming situation feel much more manageable. Her kindness and professionalism truly made a difference for our family. While there is room to grow, we appreciate the transparency, the ongoing improvements, and the staff members like Kayla who clearly care about

The Avante Melbourne Team currently in place as we head into the new year is stellar. They are energetic, involved, fun, kind, professional, and truly dedicated to providing care to each and every resident, family, and staff member. They are open minded to improvements and partnerships - and importantly are very community oriented. I visit a family member at Avante at Melbourne regularly and have seen a noticeable improvement over time. The staff has become more attentive, communicative, and genuinely caring. It’s clear they’re making an effort to create a better environment for residents, and that means a lot to families with loved ones there long term.
