It has taken me years to write this review, we have been clients here for 5 years and kept hoping things would improve. We got a kitten from a family friend who was a barn cat- the kitten was 8 weeks old but very small. We took it in for a first vet appointment because she was a barn cat and we wanted to have her checked out. The clinic insisted that she needed all her first kitty vaccines- and when I questioned them on her size and if she could handle them they passed me off and said she was old enough to have them. We went ahead with them at their recommendation. The next day our kitten seized and died. I called the vet the following day to explain what happened as we were all shocked and very sad. They told me there was no way to know that it was or wasn’t the vaccines unless we did an

Amazing and kind hearted staff!!! From a lot of the vet offices I have been too, they didn’t make me feel rushed to get out of there and answered all questions I had. Definitely worth going too, even from 2 hours away

My husband and I traveled from out of town to come to the Ankeny Animal Health Clinic as the reviews and word-of mouth were all extremely positive. We brought our two cats for a procedure and we couldn't be more pleased with the care given and overall professionalism from all of the staff. They were extremely COVID-safe and made sure our fur babies were taken great care of. Dr. Vandenberg did the procedure on both cats and they are both happy, healthy and healing quickly/nicely. He was very informative on how he was going to do the procedure and what the after care looked like. My husband and I would recommend this clinic to any animal lover.

I took my cat in for a spay last week and when I arrived, I asked the vet tech taking the cat back what the cat would be coming home in and if it would be a cone/cat onesie. She had a sarcastic tone stating "of course she will have a cone." which made me feel a little silly but I was just asking a question. I send my fiancé to pick up the cat and she was in her cage ready to go. He sends me a picture when he got home and she didn't have a cone as I was confused. He told me that is how she was in her cage and he didn't think anything of it as they are the professionals. So you would think they would of sent him home after SURGERY with the proper things. This was my first time taking my small dog (shih tzu) here. The staff was so great - explaining everything to me, and providing options for my dog’s treatment. Their approach is great, such as trying something first before moving on to the next step. My dog’s health is already improving. I found their pricing to be reasonable. Lastly, they treated my dog so well and made him feel at ease. I was very impressed!
