Two stars because I did eventually get my medicine. Be prepared to wait an hour or more on a good day. Usually only 2 windows out of 8 open at a time.

If the system for the queue is inoperable they should at least have the courage to let people in the waiting area know. Last time we were here we waited 4 hours because they "needed physician's authorization." I'm sorry, is that not already implied when our doctor put the meds in??? If this is how people are treated in the nation's top military medical center, that is just sad. Some of these people need to be let go.

I recently had a very disappointing experience with Walter Reed Pharmacy that I feel compelled to share. My journey began with a lengthy drive of an hour, prompted by the anticipation of picking up a prescription I had ordered in advance. Unfortunately, upon my arrival, I was met with unexpected news: part of my order was not available. The communication—or lack thereof—prior to my visit was the first of several frustrations. Despite placing my order an hour earlier and expecting a smooth pickup process, I was informed at the window that I would need to return another day for the medication that was out of stock. To resolve the situation, I inquired if the missing medication could be ordered for next-day pickup. The staff member at the window said she would check on this for me, but after

They just got a brand new system and I overheard someone training the pharmacist on it while we were waiting. They took fifteen minutes to NOT give this poor guy his medication. I had to leave because I had work. If the wait times will be this long and they can’t be trained on a day when the pharmacy is closed, they need to have longer hours. My UTI can’t wait for them to get their stuff together. I’m very fortunate that I can go to a private pharmacy and pay Out-of-Pocket, but I guarantee you not everyone can, or has employers forgiving enough to allow them to wait for 3+ hours. (Side note: this is not a criticism to the workers. They’re trying their best. This is to the people in charge who absolutely should be let go).

The wait time was 50 minutes when I started and has increased to 110 minutes in since. I've waited for 144 minutes because four out of eight windows are marked as closed, three others aren't helping anyone and they only seem to be processing one prescription every 5 minutes. There isn't enough space in the pharmacy for all the people waiting to get their prescriptions.
