Alta Bluff Animal Hospital

I’ve been going to Alta Bluff Animal Hospital for about two years. When I first started coming here, they were affordable and reasonably priced, both for veterinary care and grooming. It was one of the main reasons I stayed loyal to them. Recently, there’s a sign inside explaining the company was sold and that they’re switching veterinarians, and since then the prices have gone way up. Grooming costs have nearly doubled compared to what I used to pay. What really frustrated me was my most recent visit. I brought one of my dogs in for a shot they didn’t have available the first time, and when I came back, they tried to charge me a second full appointment fee just to administer the shot. Everyone was so incredibly kind and helpful, Dr. Ford is very compassionate and you can tell he loves what he does!! The staff made me and my kitty feel welcome and we’re glad to have found them!

I got involved with the owner and staff of the clinic during the rescue of a bunch of puppies from an overwhelmed breeder. So first of all, Kudos to Liz and her caring and wonderful staff for performing this rescue! I kept one of the pups we rescued and this clinic has been incredibly caring and helpful nursing these poor neglected dogs back to health. Most of their services were donated, and the ones that weren't were still reasonably priced. (For those reviewers complaining of pricing- all vet clinics everywhere have gotten a lot more expensive recently)

DO NOT TAKE YOUR BABIES TO THIS PLACE. We had been customers there since 2018. Our babies were over due for their annual checkups since September due in part to the government shutdown and my husband being active duty and we are a single income family (which I explained all of this to the office manager Rachel). All I needed was a vial of insulin until we could get our babies in (both cats are on insulin). She refused stating they are not a pharmacy they are a veterinary office. There were extenuating circumstances in this case but she would not hear them. We should not have been treated that way especially having been loyal customers since 2018. I said to her so you are going to let my babies die over an appointment and apparently she didn’t care because she still refused and told me she

If you want affordable pet care and honest communication. This is not the place for you! Unfortunately, I had a very poor experience at Alta Bluff Animal Hospital. I was charged almost $400 dollars for a check up, heart worm prevention and 4 vaccinations for my 15 pound Aussiedoodle. I was told at that appointment that the vet would like to split up the vaccinations. I was told that it would be easier on my puppy to do 2 vaccines now and 2 later and that I would not be charged for splitting it up and coming in later. However, at my later visit for the rest of my vaccinations I was charged an additional $125 dollars. They did not listen when I explained what the vet had told me. They insisted on further payment. I don't recommend this facility.
