Alliance Health at West Acres

Let's be honest: no one wants to send a loved one to a nursing home. My sister and I toured several nursing homes, and often left in tears at the thought of placing mom in their care. West Acres stood out in ways that made a difficult decision feel like the right decision. What we first noticed (and noticed every time we visited) is that the place was clean and there were no foul smells. Mom had very advanced Alzheimer's and required a hoyer lift. From the moment she arrived, her intake was seamless. Mom was mostly non-verbal, and Nurse Jamie advocated for her and really took the time to get to know her. Subsequently, I received several calls from other staff members (chef, activities director, etc) inquiring about her likes/dislikes, food preferences, types of activities she enjoys

My sister and I are forever grateful to have found West Acres-Brockton for our mom’s last year of life. The entire team is so respectful to the residents in their care, including the families and friends who visit. Charlene, Christine, and Kaila have been especially sensitive and sensational during mom’s last months, communicating with clarity and helping us be as ready as possible for this monumental moment. I wish all families the peace that the care team at West Acres have granted our mother and us.

A friend of mine’s family member has received “care” at West Acres which ended up putting her in the hospital with Cdiff. The nursing staff’s behavior was appalling. I may have not been treated here but I would reccomend staying away.

West Acres NP over prescribed Morphine to an elderly patient. The facility didn't consult with the family before prescribing Morphine. The patient was administered multiple daily doses of Morphine and became bedridden and unable to eat or drink on his own. He was sent to the hospital from West Acres and died a week later. Beware of all pain meds and psyche meds. Elderly patients are very likely to have adverse reactions to all of those meds. A small dose to a malnourished frail patient is more like a large dose. The doctor and NP at West Acres should already know this.

Having arrived at West Acres with major needs, I was impressed with how quickly I was encouraged and able to progress. Overall, staff are very caring and capable. This is perhaps especially true for the PT and OT folks, who are both focused and friendly. I'd not heard of this facility until a day or two before I went there, but I have no regrets whatsoever in having gone there and greatly benefiting from their services. And the food was quite good as well. As the above suggests, I highly recommend Alliance Health's West Acres rehab facility in Brockton.
