When I walked into the building to enjoy thanksgiving with my grandma I expected to see my her sitting at a decorated table or at least talking with someone. Instead, she was off to the side in her wheelchair, staring at a blank TV screen. Her hair wasn’t brushed. She was obviously quickly dressed. It looked like no one had helped her get ready for the day at all. At one point she pressed her call button because her hip was hurting, but no one came. Not for five minutes. Not for ten. I ended up helping her myself, trying not to let her see how angry I was. I kept wondering how many times this happened when I wasn’t there. I never thought I’d feel helpless watching my grandma. This place is chaotic and loud. Extremely disappointing and when you walk in you can see the lack of attention to the residents. Many residents appeared to go long periods without any help. The staff wasn’t very helpful. I strongly urge families to carefully research alternatives before placing a loved one here.. The level of care, I observed with the facility and did not feel it was properly managed or staffed.

This place is a mess. It stinks, it’s messy, my grandfather’s water cup is always left empty despite requests/reminders (kindly) for staff to fill it up. The interaction to my grandfather is far and in between from staff, he just faces bed rot (obviously my family and I visit regularly to assist with this). There are confused elderly people walking around without assistance, walking into random rooms and touching random strangers who walk into the place. It’s like a zoo without a zoo keeper, but the staff I have seen each time has a cellphone in their hand and doesn’t even speak to the visitors who come in. If there weren’t issues with my grandfather’s POA paperwork with the state, he wouldn’t be stuck there where he frequently asks to leave. The rooms are like filthy little prison cells.

My family and I have been disappointed with the level of care given to my grandmother. There were times when her basic needs did not seem to be addressed, which caused a significant worry. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and makes improvements for the sake of residence and their families.

My sister was placed in Advena, about a year now. She moved into assisted living, but health issues she had to move to the nursing home, temporarily, while she healed, and a few short weeks, she was able to return to assisted facility, which she prefers. She has been in different facilities for 15+ years. #1 all residents are genuinely happy. #2 The staff at both places, are phenomenal. #3 They worked with her in the nursing home just two weeks and they was able to move her back. That's an amazing place. Each staff member is treated well, and treats well, so no massive turnover rate in their staff. #4 My grandson and I went to have Thanksgiving meal, 11/20/24, Each and everything prepared was the best I had ever had, not a lie nor an overstatement.
