Advanced Pediatric Care

The serious lack of communication with our family during my mother's grave illness was staggering. The beautiful new lobby and the costs associated with it were dollars mis-spent. This hospital system needs significant infrastructure change. The patient care "teams" are switched bi-weekly. No one person serves as a conduit of information. This is our reality. The "privacy officer" I spoke with stated that the hospital attending physician, social worker and care coordinator would remain the same throughout the patient's time at the Stony Brook. This is false. The "Patient and Family Centered Care" coordinator's phone number was always answered with a message and voice mail box. Her voice mail box was always full, which of course didn't allow us to leave a message for a return phone

My father just died there due to extreme lack of care, 4 days there and only blood work test was ever done, 9 hours of telling the attending that something was not right with him after 9 hours of being ignored he coded and we finally got care as they started performing cpr, to little to late. I lost my father I hope no one else ever has to suffer from such an extreme case of neglect.

The medical center was a big interesting. I went to the ER once and it didn't really help me much the wait was long and had to send me to a specialist instead of taking care of my condition.

The best hospital ever they save my life in 2008 nothing is perfect because some people are rude but is just the minority.
