Right when I arrived, Keegan at the front desk checked me in quickly and clearly explained all of my charges. She processed my payment efficiently and made sure I received my receipt right away. Within a minute of being seated, Angela, the dental assistant, greeted me and began my visit. Dr. Campos was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and reassuring. I came to Acworth Smiles Dentistry for a cleaning and to get my gums and teeth alignment checked. They started by asking questions and taking X rays and photos, then told me I needed a tooth extraction. That part was fine. What was not fine is that I did not get a cleaning, which is the main reason I came. Instead I was told I would have to come back another day. I have never been to a dentist that does not do a cleaning at the first visit. Then I sat there for 25 minutes just to be told my cleaning would cost 400 dollars out of pocket. This felt like a complete waste of my time. The people were nice but the way this office runs is terrible. I came last month and I will not be going back. I would not recommend this place. First Impressions are important, yes; but second impressions can be even more telling. Case in point: I went here back in October for a dental examination/cleaning, but on my first visit the dental hygienist was out due to a family emergency, so they could only do the initial examination that day. OK. But at first I still got a great first impression---the dentist, a wonderful and friendly and caring dentist from India, talked to me extensively in the lobby before the examination and she asked me about my teeth. I had an initial consult on 1/15 as a new patient after moving from Florida. I’ve always had routine cleanings every 6 months with no prior issues. At this visit, I was told I had periodontal disease in all four quadrants and was quoted $3,933 for scaling and root planing, plus $280 for a cavity filling. After reviewing my X-rays, a dentist I know (with multiple practices) felt the periodontal findings appeared limited and that a basic cleaning would likely be appropriate, noting that many corporate offices automatically recommend deep scaling to new patients for "money racketing." Dr. Bianca Newman did a phenomenal job along her assistant Ms. Melissa. They inform you every step of the way, check on periodically throughout your visit while getting work done, and make sure everything is done in a timely fashion. All their staff is friendly and this place is a MUST for all your dental care. Gotta check them out!!
