My daughter discovered our beloved elderly dog Jack unable to get up when she got home from school and we knew it was time to say goodbye as he was in pain. Our regular vet could not get him in that day (Friday afternoon) and I called at least 5 other vets who couldn't see him. Finally I called YVC and they told us to bring him in right away, even though we were not regular clients and they had a full calendar. They met me in the parking lot with a stretcher so I didn't have to carry him and ushered us into a room. The Doctor and her staff were incredibly kind, understanding and empathetic. They kept apologizing for making us wait, even though they were doing us a favor by squeezing us in (it was not a long wait at all). We came home to find our sweet hedgehog Ralph had a medical emergency, after about ten calls to local vets throughout the region, I called Yarmouth Veterinary Center: staff was kind and helpful, quickly scheduling us a visit. We arrived early and were received by another thoughtful and kind staff, the doctor quickly attended to Ralph as they recognized he was having seizures. It was an incredibly difficult time for my daughter and myself, and sweet Ralph, and I cannot overstate how grateful we were for the kindness during such a difficult time. Sadly Ralph's condition was not treatable, he could not drink water without aspiration, so we said our goodbyes. This place is wonderful! I had a parrot emergency last week. I could find no local vet to help. (including one who I am a client of ). I called YVC ; they didn’t know me at all, but they graciously arranged for the birds to be seen between scheduled visits 2 days hence. They treated me like a long-time client, took care of the birds, and gave me a discount because I am a rescue! I have operated Siesta Sanctuary for parrots in Harmony, Me, 2 hours north of Yarmouth since 1999. Finding veterinary help anywhere near has been an eternal problem. I was so surprised at the warm welcome I received here from my initial phone call to my day at the facility. Dr. Peter Smith and all his staff could not have been more pleasant and accommodating. Where to begin? The people here are so kind, so understanding, and so loving of people and their pets. I love two hours away, no one else would see my female veiled chameleon for a major emergency. They saw her as soon as we arrived and were able to schedule surgery for the next day. Dr. Peter is amazing. I wouldn’t consider bringing any of my half a dozen reptiles anywhere else. Sadly our sweet little girl passed after her surgery we are still so grateful to all the staff here. Thank you so much for your kindness and compassion.

I took my dog here after my friend had a great experience and I was not disappointed. Dr. Zach was the first vet we have seen (we’ve seen our old vet and emergency vet) who took the time to thoroughly evaluate our dog’s recurrent ear infections and formulate a logical plan that was in her best interest as well as ours moving forward instead of looking at the case as a single visit. This was the first visit my dog has had in a long time that she wasn’t stressed at. She typically needs a muzzle and two staff members to hold her down and she let Dr. Zach examine her and look her ears without issue. This visit was far less stressful for her than usual.
