Whitman-Walker Pharmacy

They care more about money than the patients. They claim my Medicaid isn’t eligible then tried to tell me that the doctor coverage is separate from the medical coverage which I know isn’t true. All I know is they refuse to give my mental health meds and I’m slipping further and further into psychosis every day and they’re forcing me into chronic mental health failure. They told me to call my insurance company. Exactly how am I supposed to do that without a working phone? When I finally found a phone I could use, DC Medicaid refused to help and transferred me to a black hole of voice recordings and prompts that were so long I couldn’t focus on what the prompts were asking - DUE TO BEING OFF MY MEDS. None of this would have happened if I hadn’t allowed myself to be listed as homeless.

Never written a bad review in my life. Genuinely shocked by the lack of empathy from their customer service. Zero regard for what some people are dealing with and are not interested in giving a single second of their time to make sure customers find solutions. If you aren't interested in providing quality healthcare, find a new line of work.

I have been a Whitman-Walker pharmacy patient since 2014, and what is happening there now is completely unacceptable. They force patients through a fake “check-in” at the entrance that has no real purpose. A staff member writes your name by hand on a piece of paper and makes you carry this paper to the pharmacy window, where you then have to repeat everything again. This is not healthcare — this is kindergarten-level chaos. One person at the entrance creates a bottleneck while 3–4 pharmacy windows sit empty. Patients are often forced to wait outside the building, in heat or cold, even though there is a large indoor waiting area available. On December I was refused service at the pharmacy window for medications that were already prepared, simply because I did not go through this meaningles

Long wait (1 hour) for a drop off. Counter person seemed annoyed to do her job. Spent 5 minutes ordering Chinese food with a line of 5 people waiting. Discussing shrimp options.

Was on hold with the pharmacy for 30 minutes, the lady didn't even give me time to answer before she put me on hold and I was taken off hold twice just to be put right back on. This pharmacy has the worst customer service and it seems as though they don't hire enough people to keep up with the volume of calls they get a day. It's worse in person. Very unsatisfied. If you can get your prescriptions somewhere else, I highly recommend doing that.
