Westhaven Nursing Home

I waited a long time to write this review because I did not want it to come from grief. My mother was a resident there for less than a year. She died September of 2023. I'm giving Westhaven a 1 because of several reasons. My mother had Allzheimer's disease and was a hard case and would often need one on one care. Westhaven administration told me they did not have enough staff for this so they asked if I would come sit with her which I often did. On more than one occasion I would be there doing their job, and there would be several staff there literally doing nothing but sitting in the common area watching TV with NO residents because most were in bed. Or they would be outside in the front smoking particularly in the evenings. I did it anyway. That is one reason. The next is on

My experience here has been wonderful. I feel very safe and know that I am in good hands. The staff is really great and treat me with kindness and compassion. They take care of all of my needs. I feel very well taken care of and totally at home here. Food is good and they have fun and enjoyable activities. Wouldn't want to be any where else!!!

Westhaven is clean, the staff are very helpful and accommodating. They are very patient and gentle with the clients. My visit was to a close friend whom recently had a severe stroke and has lost the use of her dominate side of her body. I was there when lunch was served, which took awhile to be served. My friend is essential bedridden and would have been more secure in the wheel chair if fastened in with a belt. She kept sliding down and could have slipped out if unattended. Foot braces on the chair may have also helped. A head rest would also be more comfortable if that is available. Overall, I feel she is being well cared for under the circumstances. Today (Sunday) I was there at dinner time. Foot braces were on the wheel chair but Jacquie wasn’t secured around the waist. Yet. Two aide

It was great to visit and have time with residents. Employees were very friendly and helpful with keeping everyone safe. Things will move forward faster to normal with their way of following health policies. I loved to see the residents looking good and upbeat. Westhaven is definitely doing things right😁♥️

The building is very old and it shows, trouble heating and cooling. Most of the staff are friendly and competent, C N As are underpaid, but mostly very caring. The kitchen is above average, and food is good. My spouses room is bright and cheery, but heating and cooling not so good.
