West Penn Hospital: Emergency Room

I had a really great experience in the ER at West Penn yesterday. I went in for an allergic reaction, with hives everywhere and felling pain in my chest. I only waited about 5 minutes before I was taken back, and the nurses were quickly taking care of me. Over the two hours I was there (which is really short for an ER visit honestly), I had 4-5 different nurses and doctors come check on me. It made me feel very cared for and safe. Trinity, Nick, Cody, and everyone else, thank you for an easy visit and taking care of me!

I went to the ER today, and it was such a wonderful experience!!! From the triage nurse (I don't remember her name), to my nurse Ryan, to the PA Katie, and to the Dr., Dr.McGahan. Ryan was very nice and explained everything to me as he was doing it. Then Katie the PA, she was very compassionate and helpful, she listened and she did everything possible to make me feel better. Then when Dr. McGahan came to see me, she also was compassionate and explained all of my test results to me so I understood what it meant, and she got me home with the medication and referrals I needed. I am a nurse practitioner, and my daughter was seen in the ER yesterday. They falsified her medical records twice. While I was with her, I did not mention that I am a medical provider. They documented that she had no dizziness, even though she was never asked—despite being there for a seizure. They also included false information that was not only incorrect but also seemed (to put it nicely—no, it was) a blatantly racist thing to question in the first place.

Thank God for West Penn ER. Dr. Steve Perry and his staff are empathetic, caring and overall wonderful. Unlike some of AHNs nurse practitioners.
