Wentworth-Douglass Express Care (Lee, NH)

As I understand it, the value proposition for urgent care is the easy availability of appointments and low cost. This place is definitely not low cost even with quality insurance. I had poison ivy and saw a doctor for maybe 4 minutes to get a prescription. The bill was $266 plus another separate $30 charge for the doctor. The place was otherwise empty, so getting in was quick and easy. Paying $296 for a simple, quick doctor's appointment is ridiculous. I would go anywhere but here unless I was literally bleeding to death.

You go to this place as a Urgent Care is supposed to be cheaper than going to the ER. Well they have labeled themselves as Hospital Urgent Care, so instead of your simple Co-Pay of $50 you get billed as full Hospital Visit and ER and $800 later it is too bad. My fault for not asking at the front desk are you a real Urgent Care or are you pretending to be a ER Lite Hospital? Will never go back. I have used Urgent Cares for years and the first I have come across a bait and switch claiming to be one thing, but work with Insurance to bill it around the normal Co-Pay claiming it is something it is not. I dont care who owns the place. Either it is a Urgent care or it is not. Labeling it behind the scenes to charge the patient the full out of pocket, what exactly is the benefit of calling it an U

I went in with my grandson for his own health issue and became a patient myself. Every clinical person that helped me and my grandson were amazing healthcare professionals. I am so happy this is the Urgent Care we went to. Forever grateful to all the staff.

I had to go in to get my eye looked at and they were extremely friendly and helpful with getting me better in a timely manner. Everyone from the reception desk to the nurse MB were the kindest people!
