Walgreens Pharmacy

About a year ago, the local Rite Aid closed and my prescriptions were transferred to Walgreens on Steinway Street. Ever since then, picking up our medications has been a constant problem. We often receive automated phone calls and text messages saying our prescriptions are ready, but when we go to pick them up, they aren’t actually there. When we do manage to reach someone at the pharmacy, they confirm that the medication is ready—but when we arrive, the staff seem confused and tell us it isn’t prepared. Trying to call the pharmacy is almost impossible because they never answer the phone. One time, just to confirm what was happening, I stood in the store and called the pharmacy. I could hear the phone ringing and saw that it got their attention, but they simply ignored it until I hung up.

Submitted a prescription over 10 days ago, with a note that my insurance had changed. Instead of calling me for insurance information, they just deleted the request. I resubmitted, came in, and now it's "you need a prioe-authorization". So after coming out on the freezing cold I still have no meds and need to start a whole new process I could have done last week. Been out of meds for over a month, and seem no closure thanks to faceless anti-health corporate beaurocracy that always blames the patient for not following the secret rules.

Clearly ZERO sense of professionalism, or duty of care to patients, from the pharmacists here. My prescription was sent on Friday, and they didn’t bother to fill it until Sunday afternoon—and by the time I was able to get there to pick it up (had to trudge a bit over a mile through the big Jan. 25th snowstorm that is still ongoing as I type this) they had CLOSED EARLY! Just walked off the job and left a note on the window saying they left at 4pm “because of winter weather”, as though that’s any sort of excuse to close a pharmacy that people rely on for life-saving medicines—it’s in a heated building btw; it’s not like they were camped out in the cold—and they only left two hours early to boot, so they screwed people like myself who rely on their “services” just so they could leave work *sl

Don’t bother calling the pharmacy. Tried calling in the morning and was put on hold. Tried again and they do not pick up. You will be on hold for over 30 minutes.

I called the pharmacy to check if my prescription was received and was put on hold for 30 minutes before the line got through, rang again, and then they hung up on me. I then called again later, was put on hold for an hour and fifteen minutes, only to be hung up on, again.
