UTMB Health Clear Lake Campus Hospital

I have unfortunately not had the best experiences with UTMB. My pregnancy journey there was already very difficult, and today’s visit during my baby’s appointment was also frustrating. My 4-month-old baby had an appointment at 3:00 PM, and I checked in at 2:45 PM. I was waiting alone with my infant while still recovering postpartum, so waiting long periods with a small baby is not easy. I saw other patients being called while I continued waiting. I understand that different patients may have different providers, so I remained patient. However, after waiting more than 40 minutes, and eventually more than an hour, I asked the front desk about the delay. Have been going to this clinic to see Dr Caryl Guillermo for a long time now and she is wonderful!. Great personality and cares about you. She listens to your needs and will try to help you in any way. She will answer your questions/concerns through the UTMB portal pretty quickly. Then staff there has always been very pleasant too.

I had a very serious operation here. The surgical staff was there to explain details and answer question. They included family at all times as well. After surgery, the staff continued their monitoring and was there for questions and concern. I felt I was listened to and genuinely cared for my well being. Surgery and pain is not fun but the staff made my stay as comfortable as possible. Going home meds were delivered to my room prior to discharge. The food was so so. Unfortunately this is the only not pleasant experience.

If there's one thing I want the people in my community & the people of Clear Lake to know, it would be to avoid Methodist at any & all costs and to *please* come to UTMB instead!! If I could give UTMB more than five stars, I would! UTMB gives the ultimate, truly exceptional, top-notch care!!!! I can't stress just how much I've grown to love this hospital and all of its employees the last couple years of my life. Every single staff member goes above and beyond to ensure they give you the best, most compassionate t.l.c. care possible; even the people who deliver your food (and speaking of the food, it's so insanely delicious! The ER at UTMB Clearlake was very helpful. When we got moved to a room, we immediately noticed that there was still urine from a previous patient in the room that had been deemed as cleaned. The second problem that occurred is one of the nurses at the nurses station was talking very loudly about my mother being a difficult patient. This was hard to hear as her daughter and knowing she is confused with dementia. This is unacceptable behavior from a nurse. Another issue is there were many tests done after we had explained that our mother is on hospice care. This feels very fraudulent. I would not recommend this hospital.
