Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital

My 12 yr old daughter went to the ER for terrible head pain and high blood pressure on a Saturday morning. We spent 11:30am until almost midnight to be admitted. They got us in quick and did lots of testing ans blood work to no obvious signs of why the pain was so bad. The Dr a nurses managed her pain well. At one point they mentioned sending her home, I said no we aren’t bandaging the problem something is wrong. They finally did a CT scan and saw a lump near the brain, an MRI was then done. We were admitted and got into a room around 2am. Sunday meds were started for an infection bc her inflammation marker was high. Monday more tests. Finally Monday night the culture came back with the new a blood infection travled to the brain and she needed emergency surgery. Monday afternoon surgery w

My son was less than a month old when we got admitted into the pediatric unit, at any age watching your child require a hospital stay of any kind is scary, but him being so young amplified it for me. The staff were absolutely amazing, seriously so attentive, respectful, and reassuring. The nurses went above and beyond for myself and my child. I’m so thankful to have had such a wonderful experience despite the circumstances. My little one is thriving now, cannot thank the nurses and doctors enough!

These guys (and gals!) are absolutely awesome! My daughter had a spontaneous pneumothorax on her 13th birthday and we got transported here from another hospital. They put streamers and stuff on her door for her room ❤️ I’m crying as I write this because I have nothing but good things to say about these guys!! The doctors and staff are wonderful!! Kept my and my child’s anxious minds at ease and I didn’t matter how many times we pushed the call button ❤️ If it wasn’t for these guys, I don’t know where we’d be 😭❤️ I’d shout this from the rooftops if I could- THANK YOU GOLISANOS!!!

I brought my seven year old to the ER because I had serious concern that he may have appendicitis. He was brought in promptly and no time was wasted in getting the scan he needed. He was diagnosed quickly and admitted. Every staff member was very comforting and supportive. Everyone took their time and was very sensitive to his developmental needs. Everyone explained things to him in ways he could handle and helped him through the difficult things, like getting the I.V. When it came time for surgery, someone even came in to thoroughly explain the process, showed him pictures of the operating room and helped him mentally prepare. I spent a week at the hospital while my son was being treated. One of those nights being in the ER. Staff is absolutely wonderful here. They're so helpful and you'd be surprised by how many things they have access to to help. I came into the ER with my son for respiratory distress so it didn't bring my pump. Being a breastfeeding mom not only did they provide me with three meals a day but they also provided me with a pump to use in my room. It stayed with me and they stored any breast milk that I bagged. My room had its own bathroom and shower. No shower curtain just kind of weird and the water pressure sucked but hey it's a shower. So I was grateful.
