Upstate Community Hospital

I had to go to upstate community general last night and was in the emergency room for hours. They were so busy, I was on a random bed in a corner of a hallway but you know what. That was the best hospital visit I have ever had, sure it took awhile. To be expected. It's freezing outside, it's flu season. Everyone was so nice, they calmed me down and just talked while taking great care of me. I never once felt like I was not being taken care of their eyes were always looking if I was doing ok and when I was not they would come and check on me almost immediately. I could hear them speaking to other patients, the same kindness. I saw a lot of people, and every single one of them was absolutely amazing. They deserve so much more then they get. Walked in and there was absolutely nobody in the waiting room. Wonderful! Was immediately brought into triage. Wonderful! Triage RN told me to sit in a recliner in the hallway (directly facing the nursing station) and that was my room. The floor RN came over right away and introduced herself. Never saw her again. I sat in the hallway for three hours without being acknowledged by a provider or my nurse. I had to ask directly for the charge nurse for an update in which I was told “the doctor will be right with you”

My grandson was delivered at Upstate Community Hospital yesterday. The staff and accommodations have been outstanding! Nurses Ivy and Sarah are very knowledgeable and so personable. Thank you, thank you. From the ER staff to the nutrition staff and housekeeping, we cannot say enough good things. Everyone has been wonderful. Special thank you to the ER, delivery nurses and NP Hillary. You are wonderful. God has definitely been blessing us with each of you.

Would give zero stars if possible. Waited in the ER for over 12 hours. Not just a cold either had serious abdominal pain. Still have the pain as they could not figure it out. Room was a mess, had blood spots on counter and left over wrappers and other misc. things on floor of room. I highly recommend you go to a different hospital. Another man was brought in for a possible heart attack while we were there, checked in and tests run then put in waiting room to wait for results, they never came to talk to him so they left 7 hours later.
