I have been a patient of University Otolaryngology since 2024. I began having sinus problems in 2023 and when they didn’t improve, I went to an ENT. I always liked my PA who I saw, so I continued to go to University despite the problems that I will detail further. My first problem I had was the phone staff. They are typically very unkind, unpleasant, and dismissive of patient problems. On more than one occasion I was transferred by the office staff to a line that hung up on me, so I’d wait extended lengths of time to immediately be hung up on upon finally getting connected with a staff member. This did not apply to in-person staff, but the people on the phone (who I typically had the most contact with) were incredibly impolite. My second problem is the lack of responsiveness. This is the only pediatric ENT in the state. I waited 6 months for an appointment. My child failed the hearing test. Waited 3 weeks for another test, and failed again. I waited another month for an appointment with Dr Gibson to go over test results. Dr Gibson sent a referral to the hospital for another test. I never received a call back after leaving multiple messages to the hospital to set up an appointment for the test. I called University otolaryngology and demanded some attention after 1 month waiting for a response I finally scheduled the appointment at the hospital for Nov 10th and called for a appointment for results and the next available for Dr Gibson to give me the results is in the middle of December. I asked if Dr Gibson to call me back and the secretary sent me to another depa

University Otolaryngology is an absolute disgrace. From the very beginning, the entire process showed a complete lack of respect for patients’ time and concerns. I was left on hold for more than 30 minutes just to schedule an appointment, only to be told the earliest available date was nearly two months out. That kind of delay might be excusable if the care was thorough and worthwhile — but what I received was anything but. When I finally saw Dr. Ruhl, the appointment was a joke. He spent maybe five minutes with me, performed one quick test without giving me any meaningful explanation of what he was doing or what it might reveal, and then immediately brushed me off. Rather than taking even a moment to discuss possibilities or show concern for my situation, he simply said there was nothing

I’ve been taking my daughter here for awhile now, they never call with results at the time or day they say they will. You will have to contact them, and argue your way to talk to someone for results. They will also schedule appointments, give you an appointment card, text you the appointment dates to verify, and then when you arrive/video call in to the agreed said appointment they will say that it’s really for the following month and blame it on their systems. They will not inconvenience themselves when they have made an error and it will 100% fall back on you every-time. So if you enjoy hunting down a person for you to receive your medical test results, or if you like to consistently inconvenience your schedule trying to reschedule the appointments they incorrectly scheduled. Then this

One of the doctors repeatedly makes inappropriate comments about my country of origin during my visits. He claims that my ear problems (just a regular middle ear infection) are caused by poor water quality there (when it has better quality than in the US based on quality metrics) and has said things like, “Don’t you have anywhere else to go?” - referring to my country of origin.
