University Health Center

Receptionists and nurses are nice and helpful, but you can kiss your appointment goodbye if you are even a few minutes late. It takes 5 minutes max to administer allergy injections and then you wait in the lobby (which I've never seen crowded) for 30 minutes in case you have a reaction (all they have to do is set a timer and then check you when time's up). I struggle to understand how they can't just fit you in, especially when you are already on the schedule and there are usually multiple nurses present in the allergy clinic. This is probably the result of a university policy, but still incredibly frustrating. I've never been turned away from any other medical/allergy clinic for this reason.

I’m a graduating senior and I’ve been going to the JMU Health Center since freshman year, probably over 35 times at this point LOL, and I’ve never had a bad experience. The doctors, receptionists and check out ladies are super professional and helpful, and it’s honestly the easiest doctor’s office I’ve ever been to in my life. Appointments are quick to schedule, affordable (I think I only ever had to pay once), and they really take the time to help you. The pharmacy downstairs is so convenient and fast, and the reception and checkout staff are seriously some of the nicest people on campus. I’m actually surprised that I see bad reviews because my experiences have always been positive. I’m really going to miss this place- it’s been better than any regular doctor’s office I’ve ever gone to. G

I was surprised by all the negative reviews here. Whenever I have gone to the health center they have given me the proper treatment in a prompt and professional way (antibiotics for UTI’s, x-ray and a brace for a fractured foot, well administered shot for depo-provera). They are also very friendly and patient. Honestly, they are better than the hospital that I’ve always gone to. I’m not sure if there was a big staff change since 5+ years ago when most of the reviews were made, but I’ve never had a real problem with them.

I don't know why JMU UHC is deserving so much hate. Everytime, I go in for an appt the staff are super nice and prompt they want you to feel better ASAP. They also have all the equipment for various testing if you need. Overall, I love going to UHC whenever I have a situation and never had a bad experience with them.

I went to the health center with inflammed tonsils and a lot of pain in my throat. Doctor tested me for strep and came back negative. Said I would feel better in a few days and said viral sore throat and did absolutely nothing for me, Told me to get checked out somewhere after 5 days if i was still sick. Got worse, 2 days later went to urgent care. Tested positive for strep and got antibiotics. This place puts you off and doesn’t care. Don’t go here just go to urgent care. CAME BACK TO TRY IT OUT AGAIN. GAVE ME THE SAME RESPONSE. If u can afford plz just go somewhere else off campus, they will ACTUALLY help you.
