UnityPoint Clinic - Express (Waukee)

My daughter came in on Christmas with an excessively swollen tonsils, lymph nodes and white pockets. The nurse was rude about doing a strep test, even complained to another nurse at the lobby about it (we had another person with us waiting). Test “came back negative” and they prescribed a numbing agent. Less than 12 hours later she was on an IV for strep and mono. Exceptionally poor care and terrible demeanor. We will NEVER go to this urgent care again. Do better, treat people with dignity. We didn’t want to be there on Christmas anymore than they did.

The woman with glasses at the front desk is giving this location a very bad image. She is so openly rude to people with her attitude. I walked in and she asked if I had an appointment and I said, "no, I don't." Before I could even finish what I was saying, she cut me off and interrupted me, so she could make it very clear that I needed to have an appointment. If she had gone about it in a different way, I would have been completely fine, but her attitude and the way she spoke to me was SO unacceptable! I would let my arm fall off before I stepped foot in that location again. She needs to be held accountable.

I have been to this clinic prob ten times for the kids and me (I have one kiddo that always gets or breaks something at the worst times!). I have never had a bad experience. The staff and facility have always been professional, clean, kind, and knowledgeable.

This was my second visit, and it was just as bad as the first. I always try to give people a second chance because we all have bad days but there is one nurse who works there who has the worst bedside manner I have ever scene. She has short dirty blond hair and maybe in her mid-50s and was working 10:30 Saturday Sept 27. She’s got a bad attitude, bossy to the point of throwing a fit if you do not cooperate immediately to her instructions. I asked if we could do BP over my clothes and she claimed I refused. She jammed a thermometer so far into my mouth she hurt under my tongue and when I jerked back she had the audacity to look annoyed at me. The first time was just as bad. The provider was able to collect my blood pressure over my sweatshirt. The provider (Leah) made everything better but

I took my son into the clinic, not knowing 100% sure what was going on. I thought maybe it was a sinus infection, but he was also having trouble with the tooth. When it was determined the sinuses were fine, the doctor was very dismissive and would not even consider the possibility of an abscess tooth. In Fact, he kept pushing for a Covid test, which was silly because he didn’t have those symptoms. When my son declined, the doctor was almost laughing at us. I called back after we had left to ask hi please have him consider this, he was pretty rude and quite disrespectful and he flat out refused. I would also like to add, though that the receptionist that I interacted with was very kind.
