UNITY Eye Center-Grand Island (Formerly Family Eyecare Center)

After arrival, I had only a short wait before Berniece(?) escorted me to an exam room. She performed a series of tests professionally and quickly. Immediately after her tests were completed, Dr. Hudnall appeared to conduct his exam. He has an easy, friendly manner; always explains clearly, and is a fine professional. After my exam, Dr. Hudnall escorted me to the next station. The person there set me up with a young woman who helped me select new frames for my new lenses. She also tallied the bill, noting Unity discounts. All in all, each person in the chain was friendly, efficient, polite, and helpful. I never felt rushed or unheard.

This was one of the worst medical experiences I’ve ever had. The staff was incredibly rude and unwelcoming from the moment I walked in. Basic questions were met with attitude, and impatience, which is completely unacceptable in any healthcare setting. I was explaining the lady the issues with my prescription and she was taking over me the whole time. I explained to her that I took my glasses there two times because I was having problems with them from the start, and she didn't care, she told me that I have to see the doctor again for a new prescription, and pay again. To make matters worse, the prescription I was given was wrong. My vision was noticeably worse after getting my glasses, causing headaches and discomfort. This was my first visit here on the recommendation of a coworker. The staff was awesome and so patient with me. Dr. Maddox explained everything I needed to know regarding the possible issues that my medication can do to my eyes. I'm definitely returning next yeat!

My usual eye appointment. But having issues with vision at work. Exam, Dr very clear and thorough. It was decided to get some "office lenses" for use at work. The Eyewear selection was a surprise, my insurance (Medicare) has a certain allowance, and the salesperson had a tray to choose from "that are fully covered" by the $$allowance, BUT, then I was charged an $81 fee, which I've never had before! Going to "rethink" this .... and "upsell" ??? Or a misunderstanding?

Called this morning to see if I could get in for a follow up to my O.D. Last exam from a month ago. Donna answered the phone (a very pleasant lady to talk to made the appointment process easy) and got me set up with a 10:40AM visit today. Got in the Tech called my back did all the routine exam stuff, medical history, meds I’m taking and in general what’s going on. Derek Maddox O.D. came in and asked about my history with glaucoma and the treatments that I was on. My pressures were down but wants to see me in a month to check them again and look at another option instead of just the drops I’m doing now. All in all very pleased with all the staff, Technicians and O.D. Maddox. I Highly recommend this Eye Center.
