UMass Memorial Medical Center- Memorial Campus Rhumatology

Met with Doctor Khan after experiencing 6 years of chronic back pain and he looked me in the eyes and said “you are hypersensitive to pain.” Meanwhile I have documented spinal and neck arthritis. I have never felt so blatantly disrespected. Incredibly frustrating. No wonder the public has lost faith in the medical system.

I have a serious illness so you’d assume most doctors would keep an eye on their patients with a disease like that and be there to offer compassion and guidance. I have never been neglected more at any other medical facility than I have at UMass Rheumatology. My doctors actively ignore my calls and messages. You cannot receive an actual person at their clinic but instead you are sent to a call center every time you call them. And good luck if you need medical paperwork filled out for your place of employment, because they will do everything they can to avoid filling it out. I am on the verge of losing my job because of my illness because I cannot get leave paperwork filled out by them despite multiple calls and messages. This means I will no longer have healthcare for my ongoing treatments

BEWARE! This rheumatology clinic runs itself extremely poorly. If the doctors aren't bad enough themselves, you also won't receive quality continuity of care. They regularly book months out of your last appointment because they are so full. The doctors are almost always over an hour late to the appointment. They are clearly dealing with too many patients for any one of them to receive quality care, so they simply won't provide it. I recommend staying away from UMASS as much as possibly, especially post-covid. Mass General Brigham is a step above so if you are thinking of booking here, I urge you to check other openings first.
