UMass Memorial Medical Center - Hahnemann Campus

I had an appointment with a plastic surgeon to address a medical concern, and he showed no patience in listening to me, as well as a complete lack of humanity and empathy toward my delicate and sensitive situation. I underwent an MRI that did not reflect the real problem I have been feeling for the past four years, and he simply said, “There’s nothing wrong, the MRI shows everything is fine,” while looking visibly impatient, as if he was tired of hearing me speak. I am currently in recovery from a traumatic experience I went through, and this appointment made me feel as if I had taken a step backward in my healing journey. After he left the room, I tried to speak with a student who was present, but she appeared to have been trained by him, as she showed the same insensitivity. I asked her

Doctors get paid to be nice in your face, but never treat you for the problem because they want you to keep coming back. I have a list of doctors already that have not helped me yet. The strike continues. These are state runned doctors so any complaints made nothing will happen it’s all bs.

If I could leave zero stars I would. I don’t have words to even describe how horrible my experience was tonight over at UMass. I went back in for kidney stones again. And I just can’t say enough to the staff in the ER……do better. ☹️ I felt so bad too there was a psych patient that came through who was obviously in serious distress and they had to put him in the waiting area because the psych waiting area wasn’t even set up or had a staff member to supervise the area. Poor guy was sitting in the waiting area with other patients sharing his details and such when all that should be said in a private area. But UMass didn’t have that area set up yet. Way to go. I can’t even describe MY experience because it was so traumatic. I am never going back to this hospital again.

I have to say I like Hahnemann Campus. Dermatology and Opthamology Depts are great and the people in general who work there are incredibly nice. Every time I needed to see somone quickly, I was able to get an appointment. A shout out to the valet parkers and the guards at this campus. Today I hit a curb and blew my tire while driving to get into the parking lot. Two incredibly nice men changed my tire, parked my car and brought my keys to the doctor's office so I did not miss my appointment. Two strangers who went out of their way when they did not have to. I have also had infusions there during the height of Covid. EVERYONE WAS KIND AND PROFESSIONAL AND COMPETENT. I actually wish they had an ER. Much different atmosphere compared to Unviersity and Belmont doctors and people.

I came here in 2024 as a referral for orthopedic. I ended up needing surgery on my shoulder which I was happy about street many years in pain. Surgery wad in February of 2025. Healing ha been slow, but that's how I heal.
