UMass Memorial Medical Center Department of Gastroenterology

My husband has been a patient of the practice for over 5 years. The providers are awesome! As for the staff, I have yet to have met someone who is not rude and disrespectful. My husband is very kind to these people, as a nurse i am appalled by the way these women communicate to patients. I highly suggest contacting the patient liaison regarding the staff's behavior. Your there to help the patient, help advocate for their care!

Avoid the UMass ER at all cost. I’ve been waiting for three hours now and haven’t seen a single provider. You would think a person with chest pain issues experiencing chest pain would be seen stat! I don’t know what the problem is, but an entire line of at least twelve patients have come and gone. Still I wait………..I expect most ERs are in the same mess. However, there seem to be plenty of staff around, doing a lot of pecking in computers, but little else. I know doctors work A LOT are on their electronic devices, but get real. Enough is enough. And still wait I wait.

Absolutely the worst communication I have ever experienced. I'm not convinced this place even exists. They expect me to wait until the day of my surgery to even hear what's being done to me. I will not stand for this. It's very frustrating and Donna Simoncini needs to get a new job or answer her goddamn phone.

My first visit I saw Dr McCann. I really liked her and she made me feel very comfortable. She ordered a couple of tests to start the process of trying to figure out the cause of my issues. When I called to schedule a follow up appointment to go over the test results it took me 2 weeks to get someone to schedule an appointment for me. The first two times I called I was told that someone would be calling me back to schedule. Nobody ever called. So I called a third time and I was informed that I was going to have to schedule with a different doctor because Dr McCann retired! I was never told that this doctor would not be permanent. I don't know why they would schedule a new patient to see a doctor that was not going to be around for more than the first appointment. I am frustrated with this.

Ordered blood tests for me. Didn't get results after several weeks. I called after about a week and a half and they said they weren't ready. Called again almost two weeks later and they said they would call me back within a day or two latest. Over two days later they called while I was at work. When I called back I spent over 15 minutes on hold where they then hung up on me. I called back and they said the nurse was busy on the phone and couldn't tell me my results. They then told me I needed to make a follow up appointment but couldn't tell me what it was for or why I needed it, which I don't. I still haven't gotten my results and it's rather important that I get them sooner rather than later but they don't seem to care. Don't go here unless you want to jump through hoops and get ignored
