UMass Memorial Hospital Urology

I have been blessed to have a place to go locally that provides exceptionally better quality doctors than those we visited in Boston Longwood area, the supposedly award winning hospitals had the worst care for my child, the allergist actually told us to inject our child with an epi pen with the slightest allergy and to not take antihistamines because those would only put kids to sleep and nothing else, we didn’t go back, and moved out here, and was pleasantly surprised by Umass hospitals. Our experiences at Umass Hospitals has been and continue to be pleasantly surprised to receive amazing care for the last 13 years for myself and family, they care about and they the know how, they should expand their locations , the area is gentrifying and is a nice place for all.

I went to this umass emergency department a few weeks ago for my 11 month old daughter who fell and hit her head. I was overall not impressed with the staff what so ever... The girls at check in were just plain rude and inconsiderate. When i finally got to see a nurse/ doctor, i expected more from them. All they did was feel her head.. they didn't check other areas of her body to make sure she didn't hurt herself anywhere else. They didn't give me an ice pack for her head or tylenol to make her feel better. When i asked for formula for my daughter, it took them over 2 hours to provide it for me. Overall, very lazy and rude.

I do not recommend this highly overpriced hospital unless you are 100% sure your insurance company will pay. I got stuck with a $4,155.96 bill for a colonoscopy, and then they sent another separate bill for $950.93, or $5,106.89 for a simple procedure. The average cost of a colonoscopy in Boston is approximately $2,500. They charged me more than two times the average cost! They also did not tell me up front that my insurance coverage would not pay for this. They would not negotiate a reasonable fee. It's all about the money at UMass. Never again. Stay away. The only reason I am giving them 2 stars is that the procedure was painless, and they were professional. But what an outrageous bill, it's shameful.

I am sitting in the room now for over an hour. No one coming in to check in and let me know what is going on. NO one to provide updates or ETA. When I did stand in the doorway until a staff member noticed, I was told we were next and that was 45 mins ago! While they may be great, the lack of communication and the lack of time management makes it not worth going.

The worst hospital ever, staff threatened me and pushed me around, The staff treats people like they are from a Third World country for the sake of your own life go to a different hospital anyone but that one. To also add manager call dept of children an family on my do to my supporter of President Trump, dcf called me and informed my of this and actually laughed at the reason of the complaint. Careful at this hospital they might allow u to suffer or die over ur political view
