UK King's Daughters Medical Center

I was seen in the overnight ER as an adult patient. Night staff appeared to do the bare minimum to keep patients alive, and one emergency seemed to hold up the entire hospital. I arrived at 7pm when the ER was nearly empty. I had been vomiting for 24 hours and was already dehydrated. I was told I couldn’t eat or drink until after my CT scan results, but no fluids were given through the IV they already had in my arm. It’s now 2am, and they told me they don’t know if it could be another 7 hours or more because it varies. One emergency should not prevent other patients from receiving care.

Some photos from the room and the view. The staff have been great post op, the patient advocate came around, the doctor and others to check on us before 10am. They have been in to change batteries and clean the room too. As you can see there are lots of posters around the room as reminders. The shower is very nice, wide and big enough if you are a large person, and they have a chair if you need it. Lots of room and very attentive staff. I would highly recommend. I have been in lots of hospitals in KY, OH and WVA. This hospital rates in the top three!

I arrived at 7pm dehydrated and vomiting with an IV in my arm, but no fluids or symptom relief were given for over 6 hours. Other patients waited 7–12 hours with pain, dizziness, or heart issues, and staff offered sedating meds just to put people to sleep rather than treat symptoms. One emergency blocked the entire ER, communication was minimal, and while there seemed to be enough staff physically present, most were not actively managing patients or moving things along. This night shift was chaotic, inefficient, and unsafe — I would not recommend this ER unless it’s a true life-or-death emergency.

I was waiting for a survey, they usually send one but they didn't so I'll post here. The nurses were nice enough but Carson, I don't remember his last name, was a nice one with a great personality and stood out from all the rest of them. Can't say enough good things about him really. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves.

Very very poor care. Was sent twice by my family Dr to be admitted. They denied it. They charge you for things not done, along with being one of the rudest hospitals I have ever been to. I will be going elsewhere. Dr Lemon is a joke. Dr Mussetter a joke as well. Would not take anyone there. You wait for hours. They have you go back and forth for different things. Keep you in the waiting room until they feel like it. Literally seen 4 nurses standing around laughing and talking instead of taking care of the people. Doesn’t even deserve one star.
