I've had two major spine surgeries performed by Dr. Shane Burch at the UCSF Spine Center. Both experiences have improved my conditions immensely. During Covid, Dr. Burch was able to address my severe spinal stenosis during two surgeries totally more than 15 hours over two days. I spent 5 days in the hospital and was cared for by his excellent staff and the crews at the UCSF hospital. Unfortunately for me, the severe stenosis reoccurred further up my spine and I was admitted this year in May for another 7 hour surgery. Dr. Burch was able to reconstruct that next part of my spine, address the stenosis and decompress the spine fully. When I was admitted, I could not walk without a walker. I actually fell out of the car prior to being admitted to the hospital. I was in bad shape. I spent a w

Save yourself and don’t bother. I have had degenerative spine issues for over twenty years. I was referred here by my primary. I have severe stenosis vertebra out of place and impingements effecting my spinal cord. I live in unbearable pain daily and this is only in one place. Not to mention ton having this in two other sections of my spine. This place is where I was referred. After answering if this was workers comp or an automobile accident I was put on hold… I was then told the surgeon won’t be seeing me, he has not reviewed my records because he doesn’t have them yet- I’m told sorry we aren’t seeing you 🤣🤣🤣 Gotta love how you’re treated by these people. I’ve done PT, pills, shots, nerve burning etc and now I’m even worse, damage has progressed. This dude though thinks I should do it al

I have nothing but complete awe and appreciation for the amazing people here at “Team Bobby”. I came to them after interviewing 6 other neurosurgeons with a range of solutions. I also came to them with a range of compromising medical issues that needed to be addressed. They were impressively thorough when it came to referring me to all the right specialists to address those issues. They went far above and beyond what I would’ve expected from any surgeon’s office. I have nothing but respect, admiration and most importantly, appreciation for the whole team. That said, Dr Tay is an exceptional human being. He cares deeply about his patients and brings all of his impressive knowledge and skills together in a very grounded and accessible presence. I could go on…

My experience with Dr. Tay has been very successful. He gives me complete and thorough information and I believe him to be an excellent surgeon. His team is top notch. Susan, his PA is very responsive to any questions I have and is knowledgeable and a caring person. My previous lumbar surgery with him was a success and while I’m scared for my pending cervical surgery, I’m comforted that I’m safe with him.

My experience with UCSF and Dr. Bobby Tay and each of his team members was a new high-mark in my experience of meducal care. I recwived accurate and conservative repeesentations of my care, surgery, and outcome throughout my interactions with UCSF. Now, six weeks post-surgery, I am out of my neck brace, scheduled to begin physical therapy and resuming many normal, day to day acrivities, such as driving. Pictures / xrays of my neck show excellent progress of bone knitting/healing and certainly there is much remaining to complete healing post operatively. I will again see Dr. Tay i. 6 minths following my 6 week re-check yesterday. I could not be more pleased and am encouraged to diligently pursue all further post-surgical compliance to assure my best outcome.
