This is a beautiful building with great people. It did take me a long time to become a patient. Worth it, but difficult.

The place is great except they really need to fire the front office staff, the lady called Caroline. She’s grumpy and rude for no reason especially if she’s dealing with people who have neurological difficulties she should be more understanding. Many of us have memory issues, memory loss, and difficulty with executive function yet she will not help you get your appointments at all and she has zero compassion. I have to close my business, drive 6 hours, and find childcare as a single parent to make these appointments. The DOCTOR told her to help me make the appointments to help me reduce travel. She refused. Told me to figure it out by myself. I didn’t even know who to call as I had to coordinate 6 separate appointments and I had never been to the clinic before. I couldn’t figure out which

If you're traveling from out of the area, always plan for them to possibly cancel your appointment. I've had 3 scheduled appointments and they have now canceled 2 out of the 3. I had travel arrangements made for my second appointment to have testing done... transportation, lodging, overnight childcare, etc... all for them to cancel without rescheduling. Very unprofessional and I would expect more from UCSF. If you have a flexible schedule and don't have to travel, you might have a better experience but I wish I would've had my referral sent elsewhere.

Update: It was difficult to schedule an appointment but once you get over it, you will be impressed by the doctors. I met with Dr. Gerdts who is so caring, patient and meticulous, he spent a lot of time reviewing my case with me, he listens and is willing to help in ways he can. At the end of the visit, he brought in a senior specialist, to provide me with even more reassurance, which was not necessary because I trust him 100%. I can finally put this crazy “MS” idea behind me and move on with my best life. For this, I’m forever grateful. —————— Impossible to reach a live person on the phone, I’ve been calling and leaving messages for a week now, no one has returned my call.

I had an awesome experience, I felt like it was the first time I had a Dr. that was really there for me.and was going to work with me as a team. I haven't felt like that in a long time. When I was first diagnosed my primary doctor called downed to Stanford an talked to someone at there and learned what he didn't know already to better help me. He was able to explain it to my kids and grandkids then, I've had a few since then. But sadly my PCP has chosen to go back to his first love an that is delivering babies. I wish him all the best but miss the hell out of him. So, with all that being said I hadn't seen a Neurologist in 5 years and I was really starting to have some exacerbations., 3 in a 3 month point. Luckily my daughter lives with me to help take care of me. ,
