Normally UCSF Medical Records is very competent, but today I got ahold of a woman named Yolanda who was extremely defensive, and took everything that I said personally, she needs to learn that sometimes patients are upset from dealing with the system and to quit taking it so personally, she's not going to last long in that job, with that attitude. As I said normally, they are extremely competent.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The form (printed, fax only) the woman asked me to submit includes radiology, but she said she isn't responsible for radiology and I have to inquire with radiology if they will provide my images, separately. She said she has "no idea" how radiology will provide records. I suggested that since it is a part of HER form, she may want to also call radiology to understand their process, so that she can inform others of the process. Her response was to hang up on me.

People who are unsure if their medical records are obviously going to ask if their medical records are sent or would like to check the status. I don’t understand why whoever answered the phone was so rude, questioning if I knew what I was asking for. Lady was so rude, hope UCSF can replace whoever answers those phones to someone who is at least nice and will give bare minimum customer services. That lady probably sits on that phone all day giving everyone a hard time, how hard is it to at least be nice? Thanks to her I won’t ever recommend anyone to go to UCSF just for that reason itself. Shoutout to that lady.

I was treated at UCSF in 2019. I have the utmost respect for their professionals and have financially contributed to the university. Early this year I went through the process of formally requesting a copy of my medical records as UCSF demanded. It has been nearly 5 months and I am still waiting for them. This delay is illegal to say nothing of unprofessional. I have gone so far as to ask my provider for assistance and have not obtained any help. What happened to UCSF?

This department seems like they do not know what they are doing. The people answering the phone will tell you they do not process requests/authorizations. The request/authorization is assigned to other people, and when you speak with the "processor" they still cannot give you a definitive answer on where they are at with the request. Then ask if you want to speak with a supervisor, and put you on hold for so many.monutes that you give up and hang up.
