UCI Health — Los Alamitos

One of the best Medical Centers in Southern California, in my opinion. The nurses, who take care of you after your surgery or procedure, are some of the best that I have encountered. They take very good care of you, they are very professional and are very respectful and courteous. Also, the food in this hospital is excellent for "Hospital-Food." The preparation, selection & "food taste," is really beyond reproach. Any other procedures that I may need in the future, I hope, are in this Medical center. They always seem to push the concept of exceptional care.

I came in for a x-ray due to an auto accident. I filled out forms and was called to speak to a consultant to go over deductibles, and estimated pricing. I told the consultant v that I had PPO and she likes at my coverage. After a few mintues she said according to my coverage I would only pay 300 max after the insurance kicks in. After receiving the quote, I proceeded to get the x-ray. A few weeks later I received a bill for 1,175! I called my insurance and they told me the hospital gave me the incorrect info. I called the hospital and explained that they made an error and they replied with "oh well" , you have to pay the bill. I feel the consultant should of been more transparent and was negligent. I am now out of pocket 800!

I generally try to be understanding of the high demands on emergency room staff, but our recent visit was disheartening and unacceptable—especially when it involves the care of a young child. We visited this ER with our infant who was showing concerning symptoms, including lethargy, dizziness, and an elevated heart rate. These were clearly communicated, though perhaps not in clinical terms—but as parents, we know when something is not right with our child. Unfortunately, our concerns were dismissed, minimized, and poorly documented. Upon discharge, the official summary described our child's condition as simply "acting funny," with no medical explanation or guidance provided. This felt careless at best and negligent at worst. The absolute worst. My elderly mom fell, was taken by ambulance to the hospital. They took xrays and that was it. She is unable to move. So instead of referring her to a skilled nursing facility they discharged her in the middle of the night via ambulance. No phone call, no coordination of care, nothing. Try to avoid this hospital if you can.

Cardiac Infarto ( Heart Attack ) patient ( my wife) treated by Orange County Paramedics, first responders. Diagnosis heart issue after EKG at home. Communicated with Los Alamitos hospital. Transported to Los Alamitos Emergency Room was ready to receive her and immediately after looking at her prepped for Angioplasty. Everyone promply acted fast and professionals. Process went well. A heart artery was clogged up, ballon inserted and then Stent inserted. Afterwards echocardigram showed no damage to heart . Thanks to cardiologist Dr Lee and his team. Later stayed and observed in ICU to be sure there were no complications. And after a couple of days, discharged. Everyone treated her well.
