UC San Diego Health Urgent Care– Villa La Jolla

Extremely disappointed with the service here. I arrived with severe, unbearable penile pain—what should be treated as a high-priority urological issue—and I have been sitting in the waiting room for over 2 hours. No one has checked on me or provided any updates. It is completely unacceptable to leave a patient in this much agony for so long without any medical attention. If you have an actual emergency, find somewhere else that actually values patient care.

UCSD Urgent Care gave me the worst healthcare experience of my life. I would highly advise anybody NOT to come to this Urgent Care facility, and to instead travel to the next nearby Urgent Care facility that's compatible with your insurance. I came into the Urgent Care room with two conditions: an ear blockage and caffeine withdrawal. Prior to this appointment, I had been unable to sleep due to my headache, and had been unable to eat food, drink water, or take medicine at home due to immediate vomiting after the consumption of anything. I have to say that UCSD Urgent Care on Villa La Jolla Dr in La Jolla is one of the most professional Urgent Care facilities that I have ever been to personally, and I have been to quite a lot through the years. Dr. Schneir was exceptional! He listened to my concerns, addressed my issues, and provided exceptional care. If all medical facilities had this same level of professionalism it would be amazing. I highly recommend this Urgent Care facility.

UCSD Villa La Jolla Dr. Urgent Care — this visit was a masterclass in how to create surprise bills and hide behind “policy.” I was told at check-in my responsibility was $130. I paid $130. End of story—or so I thought. Later, MyChart shows a remaining balance of $918.85 after “discounts,” with charges for a high-level office visit and multiple respiratory tests (COVID/flu/RSV/strep). Here is what made this unacceptable: 1. They used a Topaz digital signature pad without letting me read what I was signing. Staff handed me the Topaz device and said it was “just a form” and to sign. They did not show me the document on a screen, did not provide a printed copy to review, and did not explain what the form actually authorized. In that setup, you are effectively signing blind. 2. Tripped and fell, serious gash on my forehead, a lot of blood, probably need stitches, went to this urgent care, the guy at the front desk told me they were too busy to help me. Frankly speaking, I am furious at the lack of available treatment here. Big mistake coming here, won’t make that again. This place is a waste of time and UCSD should be ashamed.
