UAB Medicine Urgent Care

The wait wasn’t terrible, Dr. Posey was fantastic and very kind. She answered my questions without judgement and made me feel safe to ask them. However, there was a nurse that really upset me. I take mental health medications and she asked if I was still on them. Common question, so I simply said yes. And she said, “good. Oh I prescribed them!” Which immediately made me uncomfortable because my initial introduction to mental health in Birmingham was traumatizing. I have PTSD from the experience. The nurse continued by saying, “Oh you seem much calmer now.” And chuckled lightly. I did not find this funny or trauma informed. I gently suggested her program try some trauma informed training. She agreed that UAB would greatly benefit from this.

My overall experience with Urgent Care is ok, but Shana Morton is a horrible PA. She doesn't listen no matter how many times you repeat yourself. I wish Dr. Peace was on duty because she at least hear you out!

Went in to urgent care because I was having ear pain thinking I had an infection. Was told it was my psoriasis. Dr said he was sending in a prescription and never was able to pick it up due to pharmacy needing a new alternative. Called the clinic saying that the pharmacy needed a new prescription sent in and they needed to call. Lady was very rude and said the pharmacy needed to call them. Apparently they had been but no answer. So I never got the provided treatment I needed. This is a horrible urgent care.

Dr. Allen was my provider and he was very kind. He was upfront and honest with me, checked on me multiple times, and ordered many tests to try and figure out what was going on. Though the front desk and triage wasn’t very talkative, i had a good experience overall. The nurse who did my EKG was very sweet and professional too. I’m from out of town and this place happened to be the closet urgent care, but if i’m ever in the area again this is where i will go!

Dr. Peace the real deal. One the nicest people you’ll even encounter in medicine. She deserves all of the amazing things the world owes her.
