Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital

I recently went to the ER at Waccamaw for pain in my right side. I was seen promptly and it was determined that I had appendicitis and my appendix would be removed the next day. Everyone from check in to discharge was amazing. The staff was knowledgeable and responsive. My surgeon Dr. Tarwater and her team were amazing. I’m so thankful to God and Waccamaw for the amazing care I received.

Tory Kiningham was my delivering midwife and I can’t say enough good things about her! Absolutely loved her knowledge, expertise, and her being so personable. Between her and my nurse McKenzie I felt I was surrounded by life long friends who fully supported and cared for me. They were amazing all around. Made me think twice if our family was truly complete because I’d do it all over again with them in a heartbeat. My entire prenatal care with tidelands was great. I loved everyone I met with and the entire pregnancy with them was such a blessing from God. Thank yall so very much!!

I came to the emergency room for an injury and ended up having a 2 and 1/2 day hospital stay. During this time I was met with a very knowledgeable and kind staff. I received a top-notch care from a wonderful staff! Dr.Ratliff from the emergency room, Dr. Lewis in surgery and the nursing staff On the third floor helped me tremendously. They treated me like a friend, not a patient. I am so happy I came to this hospital. I would recommend this hospital to anybody for anything. Thank you all so much!

I went in for spinal surgery with Dr Eggert and his NP Dan. These doctors are exceptional providers with lovely, enjoyable personalities. They went way above and beyond what I've experienced from any other doctor - - like even coming in together for a post-op discussion and changing my dressing rather than telling me the the nurse would take care of it. They both are lovely and do their work very, very well. The nurses were exceptional as well. I got A+ service from everyone, and couldn't be more grateful. The sciatica I've had for 15 months every single day is gone! So are other conditions I didn't realize were stemming from my issues! I am very, very, happy with my surgery, my overnight stay, and my discharge!! 😁

We arrived at the ER last night around 8:00 PM. My wife is 34 weeks pregnant and was experiencing extreme back pain and heavy breathing. After triage briefly spoke with us, we were sent back to the waiting room — and then waited over three and a half hours without being seen by a single medical professional. During that entire time, there was zero communication, no updates, and no sense of urgency or concern. Each time we asked how much longer it might be or whether her condition had been reassessed, the only response we received was, “You’ll be called when you’re called.” There was no explanation of priority levels, no reassurance, and no empathy.
