Thorek Memorial Hospital: Emergency Room

Very terrible place. The nurse couldn't tell me a thing about my father and is the one caring for him! Do not bring your loved ones here. They're very unprofessional and they've made me feel completely unsafe about the wellbeing of my dad. I didn't even know he was sent here and I'm an hour away. They never called me and informed me of anything. How do you work for a hospital and don't know the visiting hours. These people are a waste in the medical field.

I was hoping to be a voice of reason in the reviews, but I should have believed them instead. My throat was closing up, and I could no longer swallow. The intake person noted that she could tell my lymph nodes were very swollen, but they were busy and she couldn't tell me what time I'd get back there. I waited in the waiting room for 2 hours, all the while spitting in tissues because I couldn't even swallow my own saliva. I kept thinking "At least I'm stable enough to not be prioritized." However as I waited it became increasingly harder to breathe. At this point the registration person AND the security guard had been away from their desks for over 20 minutes so I couldn't even alert anyone, and I lost my ability to speak. DO NOT go here! I had an extremely disappointing experience. Bad service, unprofessionalism, and a dirty environment. The staff was indifferent and unhelpful, lacking basic communication regarding my care. Cleanliness was a major concern, and I it does not deserve any stars. This hospital needs to improve its services significantly before it can care for patients. Find another facility if you need emergency care.

Worst emergency room. Does not even deserve the title emergency room with how long they take before seeing any patients. Have waited over 5 hours and the “update” we have got is a doctor coming out to say they are going as fast as they can. If you have an emergency do not come here because you will not be treated within a reasonable timeframe for your health.

What I observe when I arrived and while I was there It was like a slaughterhouse "get them in get them out quickly" the bedside manner of the doctor was dismissive disrespectful offensive and unprofessional. The doctor I went to see did my consultation in the hallway where there were others present which I'm sure violated some type of HIPAA Act. He made statements to me that I felt was on the line of profiling, I had a brief consultation with his assistant and barely none with him.
