The Queen's Health Care Center - Kahala

This review is for Queens for primary care, not urgent care. I feel the staff is organized and caring here. It is not perfect as it is hard to get a live person when I call, but they do return calls and appointments are easily made. I have been coming here for the past 3 years to see my family doctor. Location is good too. I would rather drive a little further and have good and free parking.

I went to Queens Urgent Care this morning for my itchy throat, runny nose and stuffy forehead. The MA and front desk were awesome, it was Dr J. Briceno whose bedside manners is something to be desired. I explained my situation and he responded with “ What do you want us to do for you?” I wanted to be a smart ass right back at him but I kept my mouth shut. All I said was I just need something to help me out. He was not wrong in saying it’s takes time and rest. I don’t understand why I was given an opioid such as codiene in cough medicine when I wasn’t even coughing. Not only that I told the MA I can’t do opioids or even half as it messes me up. Dr. J Briceno is pretty useless and doesn’t know how to address people when it comes to urgent care matters. I am definitely be going to call up Q

The doctor was very helpful and I can say we received quality care there today. However, this location is severely understaffed. The normal wait is 1-2 hours with only 2 people waiting before us. When we were done with the appointment, the receptionist said the wait will be over 2.5 hours.

AVOID this location and Dr Jose V Briceno. He is not interested in helping patients. I went in due to a knee sprain and asked for a recommendation for physical therapy and a note to my office so I could work from home temporarily. The way he reacted, you would have thought I asked for an rx for opioids. He refused and said I needed to get an xray and see a bone specialist before PT. For the level on sprain I have, it makes no sense. He didn’t even recommend a cast or a knee brace, so why would I need to see a specialist?? He is disrespectful and does not listen to the needs of his patients. This was a complete failure in treatment.

My adult son and I had electric scooter accidents. He injured his arm, I injured my rib. They took my son and did his X-ray. They told me to go to emergency since I had a few very minor scratches on my face. I was not complaining about my head and did not ask to get my head checked, I was there to get a rib X-ray so that I would know what injury I was dealing with. So basically they had me to around 3 hours for my son to get his arm X-ray and told me to go to an emergency for my X-ray! Absolutely stupid and lacking in common sense. I will be sure to use a non-Queen’s urgent care for any future issues.
