The Pearl Of Montclare

My aunt is new here. It took her a bit to get use to being there but now she loves it! This place is so clean. The staff is friendly and responsive the nurses are amazing. They have activities, the dining area is spacious and the food is decent. Shes finally at a place that's giving her the care she needs. We are truly pleased. I would recommend it

I like living at Pearl of Montclare. I have been a resident for eight years now. The staff is very friendly and everyone knows my name. The medical care is excellent. The nurses and CNA’s are considerate and attentive, and the staff in physical therapy is especially helpful. The life enrichment department provides many enjoyable activities and parties with entertainment. I have been able to maintain my musical skills by playing for sing-alongs and some of the worship services in the chapel.

I would not place a family member at Pearl of Montclare. My experience showed serious problems with honesty, safety, and basic care. Staff members lie to residents, which completely breaks trust. The Therapy Department refuses to work with residents unless they have a specific “goal,” which is unacceptable. Residents pay monthly to live there and should have access to therapy as part of their care—without unnecessary barriers. Administration allows both RNs and LPNs to pass medications while talking on their phones. This is extremely dangerous and shows a lack of concern for resident safety. There is little to no organization, consistent rules, or accountability. Staff cliques are obvious, and when issues are reported, nothing is done—there is no discipline or follow-up. I truly enjoy the staff. The rehab department is fantastic, the CNA staff cares, and the housekeeping makes this place a home for the residents. Activities provides fun games and events that the resident truly love. The doctors are compassionate and available.

*** I am updating this review because my original post was written very early in my father’s stay, before we had a full picture of his care. While my comments about the admissions process still stand and the admissions director was thorough and the transition itself was smooth, our experience over time raised serious concerns. Despite repeated complaints of severe tailbone pain, my father developed a deep tissue pressure injury that required urgent intervention. Preventive measures and escalation did not occur until the injury was already significant. I was discouraged from transferring him to an inpatient rehab for a number of weeks by medical professionals whose opinions I valued.
